It's been three years since you passed
Three years since I lost you
The only love in my life
My one source of joy
This will be another Christmas alone
Since I lost my little boy

Your mother I never knew
As you were my adopted son
Fate cruelly took you away
You were the only one
Who understood my pain
Who knew why I cried
My world ended when you died

Now I must face
Another Christmas alone
I see your smiling face
When I close my eyes
It's the worst pain in the world
When your only child dies.

It's been three years since you passed
Three years since I lost you
The only love in my life
My one source of joy
This will be another Christmas alone
Since I lost my little boy

I'll hang up a stocking
And say a quick prayer
I want for nothing this Christmas
Except to hold your hand
But I'm alone again
And no one understands

Rest in peace my son
We'll meet again one day
Maybe sooner; maybe later
We'll meet again
I miss you my son
I miss you

January, then nothing

From upon my windowsill
looking at the stucco claimed sky,
I realised this grey disguise isn't grey at all,
there's a retrospective shade of silver
laced within its linings -- still born is the rain.
And through svelte lines of sunlight I watched snowflakes
leap and bound from branch to
twitching branch, some plummet
to the Earth beneath - where others too lie still,
stunned into an expression of divided delusion,
an outlet for their illusion at the impromptu impact.
"Its such a shame to see so many battered
against my jaded window pane." I wrote,
with calloused fingers cold, for
I swear I heard them crying at the
cracking of their backs breaking.
Every last one.
And yet I remain, I remain in a state of
overwhelming contrast to beauty; I am not special,
I am not unique, I'm just a another barrier
to halt their passage, to halt their
Poetry in motion that never came to me -
in the form of inspiration.
Because Poetry is fake. And every word
is a ripple
going to waste - plummeting towards the boarders
of the glass, and the gaps in the pavement,
and the lips of the speaker, and the lobes of the listener,
and for every life except their own, because
sometimes its just as simple as -
our time is up.

[Verse]
Look out the window's frosty frames
So different but still the same
The first snow brings, wonderous things,
The little children outside carolling

[Verse]
Roll up by the fireplace, crackling flames
Tell the stories about how the wisemen came
Wait up all night, just to get a sight
Of old saint nick, maybe this time you might

[Chorus]
Some people say,
It's just a greeting card holiday,
But in a strange sort of way,
The spirit still lives on today...

[Verse]
Wake up bright 'n' early, rush to the tree,
Big shiny boxes what ever could they be?
A shiny red toy truck, A guitar on which to pluck,
Or maybe another sweater, that's just your luck

[Chorus]
Some people say,
It's just a greeting card holiday,
But in a strange sort of way,
The spirit still lives on today...

I'll Bring the Eggnog

Let’s go
We have a pin and a paper.
Let’s go
We’ve got a knife
and we have a stapler.

Interrupt the party
with a case of eggnog,
and a roll of quarters in hand.
You can tell they stop shoveling the snow
when the truck started spreading the sand.
But it didn’t get in your eyes.
What part of “know” do you actually understand.
Frequently scheming with the Christmas lights;
They won’t stop blinking the code --------,
Which is some kind of Chinese dialect for “solitude.”
Or in other words, “saw you kissing that dude.”

Then he had the nerve
to show up outside where the girls were dancing
and stick his tongue on the pole.
Let’s just say for a while
he talked kind of funny.
His slobber was freezing
until you saved him from bleeding.

Let’s go
We got her bikini top and a big favor
Let’s go
We got a bitch slap but still have to save her.
Leaving the party
With a burlap sack.
Boo’s and a rustle inside.
Maybe you’ll have the nerve to thank me
Sometime in the near future,
my love.
