Like John Skyes did in the video?

No, I've tried it already! You can try it if you want, that was a show biz stunt, you can make cool sounds like Jimmy Page did, but not synchronized violins like in Still of the Night. Legend has it Jimmy fell out of his chair laughing when he saw that video.

Thats a pretty lame legend.
Even lamer is Jimmy Page temed up with Coverdale 2 years later for Coverdale/Page.
Actually it's not a legend, read it in a Guitar Magazine interview.

WOW, the "bowed guitar" sound da du du du du du du keeps going after he throws the bow into the audience and John is playing power chords, the backing track is mimed, only Coverdale is live, where are the keyboards, are they pre-recorded or is John Sykes playing those too. LOL MTV Miming Twits on Video. Do you have any other performances that the band is playing "live" not just Coverdale?

Clip is gone but it was Adrian Vandenberg in the music video and at the MTV awards.

And no; their is no frigging way to do that part with a bow. It's not even a guitar making that sound.
