I just watched the video and I think it's a really nice idea. It's not cheesy, but it's open-minded and quite nice, really. Also, is Connor gay? I've been wondering that lately.

Akimbo - I Wish the Dead Could Come Back to Life So I Can Kill You Again

On a more serious note, I guess everything I listen to is either instrumental or is chaotic with screaming vocals. Its hard to tell someone you love them by screaming at them.

My boyfriend likes to woo me with depressing Elliott Smith songs. It worked at first and now he won't stop playing them.

^haha, I love Elliott Smith. I guess his tormented love songs can get to be a bit much in your case, though.

Personally for Ryan Adams I like "Firecracker" better. (At least I think it's a love song.)

Actually thinking about it pretty much every song on Gold.

I'm pretty sure he isn't being that last I knew he was with Maria Taylor (who by the way makes quite good music).

Oh and to be useful I'll toss a song out there

Are we talking cheerful love songs, or bittersweet love songs? I can usually only think of the latter, but try

On and On - The Longpigs
You and Me song - The Wannadies
Kirsten Dunst - Daniel Flay & The Irreparable Guilt
War of the Worlds - Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken - Camera Obscura
You, Me and Everybody - Gomez
Call Me When You Work That Out - Leni Ward
We're On Fire - Crashland (usually more punk/metal than much else but this is an excellent exception)
Come Around Again - Jet
Delicate - Damien Rice
Middle Of Nowhere - Hot Hot Heat
Romeo & Juliet - Dire Straits (OK so it's not very indie, but c'mon it's a classic)
Together - Raconteurs
Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Sour Times - Portishead (not so much bittersweet as just bitter haha)
Acrylic Afternoons - Pulp
Do You Remember The First Time - Pulp
Each Time I Bring It Up, It Seems To Bring You Down - Lambchop
Set The Fire to the 3rd Bar - Snow Patrol / Martha Wainwright
Number 11 - The Bluetones

Some of em might fit the bill I guess

i've heard that he's bisexual, but even the place i read that (i don't recall where it was) even said that it wasn't confirmed. but who cares.

and in response to the elliott smith mention. yeah a lot of his love songs are a little depressing, but he had some happier ones. like angel in the snow. thats an amazing song, at least i was able to woo a girl with that one.

'One straw(please)' by Bright Eyes is awesome. Such a beautiful song.
I also love 'If you fall' by Azure Ray, and 'Speak easy' by Maria Taylor (Conor's girlfriend) is incredible.

it's really weird that this song is a "love song." like, i hear it and there's definitley affection and what not, but it isnt the usual "i love you so much, omfgawed, baaaybeeee!" oberst is a genius :]

Yes to **sid**! 'For Lovers' is a great one. Antony and the Johnsons' 'Fistful of Love' is a beautiful "love song" (I use the term carefully here, since its about someone being abused by their partner but still being totally in love with them). 'Delicate' by Damien Rice is hauntingly brilliant.

of angels and angles - decemberists

Yes.

I'm going to perform that song (among others) at an open mic this Friday.

A couple other good Decemberists 'love songs' are "Angel, Won't you Call me?" and "Yankee Bayonet"

And I'd have to agree with everyone stating First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes. It's a touching song for sure.

True Love Waits. That's the only one I can think of, though.

Exit Music (For a Film) if im not mistaken is somewhat of a love song, even though its incredibly sad and depressing, becuase its about the story of romeo and juliet,

also i think that "You" off of pablo honey was a love song of some sorts
