On a bit of a Skynyrd obsession at the moment so I'm hoping that someone could recommend some other, at least fairly similar artists, who could be classified as Southern Rock, and I already know the Allman brothers.

Even though you said you know them already, I'm still going to recommend The Allman Brothers Band only because they are so ****ing good.

Creedence Clearwater Revival is considered Southern Rock, even though the members are from California. They are an excellent band.

very good band i started listening to about 6 months ago, Pride and Glory. check out the myspace www.myspace.com/prideandgloryrockstheshitout its with famous heavy metal guitarist Zakk Wylde doing a couple of groovy southern tunes. or check out Down. its with famous heavy metal vocalist Phil Anselmo of Pantera and heavy metal bassist Rex Brown of Pantera and Rebel Meets Rebel. very down south feel to it. Zakks from New Jersey and currently lives in Los Angeles, Phil is from New Orleans where the bands location is, and Rex is from Dallas
