I searched and didn't find any threads on them... so who else likes Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang? I love their album "Howl".

I like the style on their first 2 albums better, but "The Line" on Howl is incredible. I like "In Like the Rose" myself.

^Check out their first 2 albums. It's much more rock-oriented. Like the Jesus and Mary Chain.

I know what you mean when you say it sounds like country, but I personally think that in Howl, they took all the good parts of country (which is just the bluesy parts) and played off that. Their singer has none of the obnoxious twang of country.

I am so excited for the new album, I'v been into these guys since i was 11. The new album is supposed to sound like a mix between B.R.M.C. and Howl

Yeah, good band. Got the first album, and though some songs are weaker than others, it's pretty good. Not really paid much attention to them since though.

Only got 'Take Them On, On Your Own'. It's alright. I've been told they've done better.

Saw them at Leeds fest in 2003 (I think, it was the year White Stripes pulled out cos Jack broke his thumb) and to be honest I wasn't that impressed. Ended up going for a horrible over priced burger and a cup of greasy weak tea rather than watch the rest of their set.

Their new album is supposed to be more rock-oriented like their first two. I can't wait for it :)

I love these guys. I liked "Howl" best, but I am an alt-country fan at heart (not to mention im also a big fan of Ginsberg). The first two records were also fantastic though.

New record comes out Tuesday!

I have a feeling I'm gonna be a bit let down by this new album. The tracks on myspace are a bit weak imo.

Howl was so damn good, as were their first two albums. But I guess I'll have to wait and see though.

I went to see them live and the new songs weren't too great for me. I've found them repeating basslines aswell, a lot of "have i heard this one before" feelings.

I do love the band though, they are one of the few bands around today who make me feel excited for new music.

thats strange cause so many people are saying that they wish B.R.M.C. hadn't gone back to the earlier stuff...but then again that's the general public

Only got the self-titled debut, but it is a great album. Listened to all of Baby 81 a few times and it is a good album too.

I've only got Baby 81. What album should I get next? Minus Howl. Not that I have a problem with it. I just want a less acoustic album first.

Saw them twice last year, once in Manchester just before Baby 81 came out (tiny gig, just amazing) and once in Leeds after the album was out. Amazing live band, went on about 30 mins longer than they were supposed to in Leeds, just didnt want to stop playing.

Take Them On Your Own's definitely a grower, and probably my least favourite of the 4 albums, but still some great tracks on there.

They were absolutely brilliant live and the song American X was completely epic I was like a foot or so away from Robert :D. For me their best album is a tie between Howl and Baby 81. Take Them On.. is kinda half and half for me some of the songs are great and some of them drag on a bit and I haven't listened to BRMC all the way through yet i should do that soon. Oh and their B-sides ususallly are as good or better than some of the album material.

Insanely good band, definitely one of my favourites. They do remind be of JAMC, the reverb, distortion, fuzz, almost pop hooks but never quite reaching it seems like the easy option, political lyrics, lyrics about religion and belief.

I thought that the american X e.p was great. I mean sure it was a bunch of outtakes and B-sies but they were still pretty good. Their new album the sound of 333 is a little weird. Haven't given it much of a listen yet though...

The Effect of 333 EP is what i was talking about. (i think it was released last year, i could be wrong though). I have given it a couple of good listens, and i cant find anything in it that appeals to me as much as the other stuff that BRMC have put out.

But yes, the American X E.P is quite good.

Yeah they released the effects of 333 as an album thats sorta to be seperate of what they've done in the past. I think they just wanted an outlet for all these experimental recordings they had floating around much like Sonic Youth has SYR records for all their experimental stuff. Also they're working on a new album and it looks like Leah (new drummer) is permanant for the time being as shes in studio with Pete and Rob. Plus a dvd of theirs is finally coming out!

Tasty. Im a bit worried about the new drummer though. Jago always seemed to suit them down to the ground..

4 years ago, my friend tolled me to listen to BRMC... I never did, always though the name is ridiculous. Then I saw them open for STP a few months ago and they blew my mind. I love the psychedelic style these guys have and Peter voice fits the groove well. The ST and Baby 81 have some very good tracks like the hit "Spread Your Love"& "Love Burns" "As Sure As The Sun" is one of the best songs ive heard in a while! Baby 81 rocks! "Berlin" just reaches out and swallows you whole! "Weapon Of Choice"..... So many other! The newest album "Beat The Devils Tattoo" is great also! "Conscience Killer" ROCKS!!! Love these guys!
