First off, if it doesnt belong here ill delete it.

I've been wanting to get into shred for a while now and I think its time I should start. So I was wondering if you guys could recomend me some essential shred albums. I'm a total noob when it comes to shred artist so be easy on me.

Thanks!

Try Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen they are the first shred artists that most people get into. Also try some bands with shredders in them like Megadeth (Marty Friedman), Symphony X (Michael Romeo), Dokken (George Lynch).

Edit: Shit forgot to mention the albums.

Satriani-Surfing with the Alien, Crystal Planet. Dvd-Live in San Francisco
Steve Vai-Passion and warfare, Alive in an Ultra World. Dvd-Astoria in London
Malmsteen-Rising Force, The war to end all wars (right?). Dvd-Philharmonic Orchestrathe one in Japan, or Live in Leningrad
Megadeth-Rust in Peace, Peace sells but whos buying, Cryptic Writings, Countdown to Extinction, Greatest Hits
Symphony X-The Odyssey, V, and make sure you download/ hear Sea of Lies or Candlelight Fantasia
Dokken-Tooth and Nail, Breaking the Chains.
Ooh I have another-Sonata Arctica :)

As far as bluesy stuff goes Joe Satriani is quite classic rock and Hendrix influenced, download Satch Boogie and the rest of Surfing with the Alien. And Paul Gilbert does a good cover of Hendrix's Red House I think.

shredaholic just helped me mod my guitar, i found some things to do if i wanna shred faster. but shredshow and cyberfret are alot of help. shredshow may seem kinda retarded but i got a kick out of it, and its encouraging at times if your just starting :peace:

I don't really agree with that... Nothing to do with shred, really, except perhaps for some Marty Friedman moment in Megadeth, I suppose.
