Dead Kennedys' Frankenchrist. First time a band ever faced criminal charges due to the content of an album.

EDIT: It wasn't actually the cover, it was the art inside the record.

Well, everyone got all huffy about Manson's Mechanical Animals album covers. I think it's one of the best album covers, ever, personally. It's a lot more meaningfull than most covers out there.

Hmm... I thought I would know more about this than I do... oh, and then there's Nirvana's Nevermind, obviously.

Well Appetite For Destructions got totally thrown out didn't it. And I'm sure Electric Ladyland was originally different from the one I've got with Hendrix' face on it, wasn't it a load of naked women that got banned?

Total Guitar did an article on worst album covers of all time. There was the white snake one where the snake does some chick. scorpions virign killer was bad. Dwarrves are the worst. Dwavers must die has a midget on a crfoss with naked chicks around him. Then there was blind fathis fist album, they had a teen boy topless. looks like he has small breasts. made me do a double take.

Rage Against the Machines Self titled in pretty Contraversial.

01-23-2007, 03:38 AM
hands down Cannibal Corpse... i mean, the album covers are so vulgar that they've had to make different covers for certain countries, and even some albums have been banned in some countries because they're that gruesome and vulgar

Masochist_Lust
01-23-2007, 04:06 AM
Slayer's 'Christ Illusion' caused a lot of controversy, as did Cannibal Corpses earlier albums (Eaten Back to Life, Tomb of the Mutilated).

Scorpions' Virgin Killer cover's pretty bad, the Blind Faith one I'm not so bothered about but Virgin Killer's perverted.

Tomb of the Mutilated - Cannibal Corpse

I agree with the first suggestion. Although certainly not the "worst" (unless you have very skewed standards) the most *controversial* was certainly the Penis Landscape, although it wasn't technically the cover.

Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladylan, the original cover with the naked ladies on, caused a bit of a stir in the sixties. Had to be sold in most record shops in a brown paper bag to disguise the image. Meh, not as controversial as some of these newfangled metalxXxc0re band's covers though. At least Jimi did it with taste.
