our band name is theTRANSITION and we just found out that there's a pretty popular band called just Transition that's decently close to us, but they are broken up, is it that big of a deal that our name is really close to theirs

you can get a better name, trust me. MUCH better name. it all depends on you, my band was called vanadium but then we found a UK band with the same name, so to avoid future lawsuits we changed (yes, if they got a deal over here theyd have to use a different name but still)

just get your band members together and talk it over. everyone can come to a conclusion, and if you decide to buy the rights, you can. if not, then don't. just remember, a band name should be something ALL of you like and if you decide to keep it, make sure it is okay with the broken up band.
