Im looking for a few good bands with female singers. Heavy type bands, melodic metal etc, with a female singer.
Something like Evenesance, or some of the stuff by Withing Temptation.

Anyone know of any?

Arch Enemy has a male singer...
Melodic metal, progressive metal or symphonic metal is what i want, but with a female singer.

Halestorm - Not metal, but damn is Lzzy sure as hell Metal to the core. She ripped her fingernail off on the strings and was bleedin everywhere and didn't even miss a beat. She was flickin blood on fans in the front row every time she strummed her guitar, if that isn't metal, I don't know what is.

Feels odd to be giving advice for bands that I *hate*. "Kittie" has a female singer, though, and while it's it's pretty shitty (nu-)metal (as opposed to Real metal, or anything "progressive", "melodious" or anything else you mentioned...) and Sometimes (most of the time) is very loud, raucous screaming akin to Cradle of Filth, you might like 'em anyway( judging by your mentioning Evanescence...). And even *I* like the song "Brackish".

And yes, The Birthday Massacre *are* awesome..

The Like have a female singer, but they're not really melodic metal. They are really good though.

Paramore. I don't care for their music, but their lead singer is just so damn hot.

The Gathering (first three if you want doom / gothic metal, anything after is experimental rock / progish) Edenbridge, Theatre of Tragedy (first three albums if you want gothic metal, anything after is industrial), After Forever, Tristania, Leaves' Eyes, Nightwish, Stream of Passion, Epica, Evilion (check out their site for free downloads of their music), Lullacry, and Lacuna Coil.
