I thought this could be a cool thread:

Using Guitar Pro (sorry powertab users, but drums are a lot easier in GP), i will start with a drum beat, fairly simple, and the next person will create a line for an intrument of choice to play during my drum beat. This process will repeat, and piece by piece, a song will form. The rules for adding a part:

-only add one section for only one instrument
-you can add a part proceeding the section of the same instrument but you may not change any part of previously tabbed sections
-you may copy/paste any previously tabbed part to make it longer or shorter
-key doesnt matter, as long as it fits
-feel free to add any other instruments such as strings, piano, etc.
-as for right now, the guitars are set in dropped D, but it is up to whoever starts the tab on the instrument to keep the tuning or change it
-tempo changes, time signature changes, instrument changes, etc. are accepted as long as it fits the song
-we will judge as a whole what to keep and what not to :D
-you may insert a section before a previously tabbed section but again we will be judging as a whole
-nobody may claim this song as their own :peace:

I do understand that this is Ultimate-Guitar, not Ultimate-Drum, I just thought this would be a cool idea so dont post offensive comments or anything irrelevant

any questions, just ask :D

there we are, i added bass.

02-10-2007, 05:42 PM
Hey, this is a really cool Idea! I'll do something later...

02-10-2007, 05:49 PM
i dont think that bass saved right, the file is the same as before

balls. wait, theres two different things theres the original and the bass in there i think?

02-10-2007, 07:55 PM
I'll definitely add on to this a little later.

no theres no bass file...but its probably better if you only have the new file when you do post it rather than the new and old...

Here I came up with a guitar part I

Tell me what you think..I just kind of came up with that right now so it's not final or anything.

I added a Keyboard track, Strings to be precise, I felt it matched up with the guitar, as well as making it sound more melancholy and dramatic.

02-10-2007, 11:26 PM
hey good job to both of you, theyre pretty cool parts IMO. I dont think anyone has anything against keeping these. do you think i could add some tiny adjustments to them though? :D

(fade in the strings, change the guitar harmonic parts to artificial harmonics?)

if you do have an objection to these minor changes feel free to say something about it

You didn't really change anything, so I can't complain, but I must say that it bothers the hell out of me that I can only write on line at a time, I already wrote this song out in my head after listening to it over and over 3 times. =P

02-11-2007, 12:01 AM
yeah if you want to speed up the process and add another part feel free to :peace:

02-11-2007, 12:26 AM
Naw dude, the fade in is cool but I don't like the harmonic change. I think it sounds better with the harmonics before.

EDIT: Oh and keep on writing. Someone write the next part and I'll fill in what we don't have.

02-11-2007, 12:33 AM
ok...i just thought it didnt fit with the song when played MIDI because now that there are strings RSE doesnt really work. (timing off)

but its up to you so well keep it how you made it

02-11-2007, 12:41 AM
Oh well that's the problem man. RSE screws it up. It sounds way better in MIDI IMO.

Oh I also change the bass and snare drum in my first post in case you didn't notice. I think it sounds a little better.

And where is everyone else? I thought a lot of people were going to do this.

02-11-2007, 12:51 AM
o yea i used to use those bass and snare but i think it sounds better RSE with the other ones...but considering RSE doesnt work with it and its not much different, it doesnt matter to me. and i rarely play my songs RSE anyway.

02-11-2007, 12:54 AM
Here I added a REALLY simple bass line to compliment the string. Adds more substance to it. Feel free to change it or add to it. I'm going to start to write the other part if no one else does any time soon.

02-11-2007, 01:08 AM
i dont think we should tab such a basic bassline, especially if were not going to keep it...but what do u think of this?

PowerTab > GuitarPro

...if I could figure out how to use it right...

This looks cool. You guys should end it by recording the parts and having someone mix em together, make an actual song and not just midi or GP5

02-11-2007, 05:19 AM
Alright, I added in a little lead bit in the middle of whats been done, but couldn't figure out where to go from there. I really like the Piano part added in, except for the triplets near the end.

I love this idea, ill be sure to stop by often. :D

(also, we're doing this in Midi, right?)

02-11-2007, 06:22 AM
i really like this idea. really cool. i added in a violin part. kinda goes with the strings. sounds good tho.

02-11-2007, 07:30 AM
WOW, that is really good, I dare not interfere with it.

Liam Efting
02-11-2007, 10:40 AM
The violin doesn't fit the strings at all. Theres too much trying to go on at once.

And the other stuff is out of key with everything else, and it sounds like the violin and piano are in a different mode ENTIRELY.

I don't think I'm gonna play anymore >_>

02-11-2007, 01:32 PM
hey that guitar part is cool but i think it sounds sweet as a bassline in the same place...check it out and then lemme know if we should keep it this way or a guitar part.

02-11-2007, 01:35 PM
im not going to lie, that violin clashes horribly i dont know about you but im thinkin no think Liam Efting is right, we have enough lead parts for this section, we should relax a little and add rhythm or start a new section

02-11-2007, 01:58 PM
I think we should start moving in a different direction like maybe:

02-11-2007, 02:12 PM
I added an harmonized part to the ending solo and some bass too

02-11-2007, 02:42 PM
its the same as before, are you sure you put up the right file?

02-11-2007, 03:03 PM
Did some lead but mainly, I added a transition at the end into a B part.

We'll need new leads and rhythm. Drums also.

Edit: fixed

02-11-2007, 04:05 PM
i wasnt really feeling the drums so i changed them a bit but altogether its kinda catchy :D

02-11-2007, 04:36 PM
I trimmed the strings so it's not so jumbled in some areas and PMd the last lead part.

I'll hold back and let someone else make the rhythm for the next part.

02-11-2007, 04:53 PM
Alrighty, I took a pretty big step, and tried to make it all flow better. Not everything has to stay, just some ideas. Sorry Kirby, I missed the changes in your post cause I used syn's file. I gotta go, but maybe someone can can take a look at combine the two.

(Also, again, listen to it in MIDI, sounds wayyy better)

Thats fine, I did them over your file. I love that Bass pickup.

Some of the strings parts may still be out of wack under the solo. The chords match but a few should be re-arranged a bit better.

02-11-2007, 05:00 PM
nice job...i like it so far but i changed one note that just didnt sound right to me :D

02-11-2007, 05:17 PM
Ok, compiled.

This is the most recent ver.

02-11-2007, 05:32 PM
I don't know if I like the new strings :x, maybe I'm just not used to them, but I think it sounds more natural with the earlier arrangement (syn's latest version)

02-12-2007, 12:09 AM
Wow, I just listened to the recent version of this and I noticed that what we have come up with here is a song unlike any I have heard before.....I LOVE IT....

02-13-2007, 06:54 PM
Don't let the thread die :( I have a next part but i need to tab it out...

02-13-2007, 08:22 PM
Wow this song is good as, I'd add to it but I can't really tab out with GP that well...

02-14-2007, 12:15 PM
Times like these i wish i had Gp5.

Upload a Gp4 version Aswell. Then i will play. WOop.
