Man, I was like 5 or 6 when I went on a cruise. It was the Big Red Boat which was basically Disney Cruise Lines before their new ships, and it totally kicked ass. The best part about it was looking behind the ship and seeing Hurricane Andrew slowly making it's way towards land. We missed that bastard by just a couple of days. The most surreal part about it was everything we saw during that trip (was a Bahama cruise) was wiped off the face of the earth right after we left.

I have been on:

Norwegian Dawn (Great. Only bad experience was all the storms we hit. I was on the 10th deck and the waves were hitting my balcony. No joke.)

Carnival Legend (Fun for me, but the food sucked)

Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas (HORRIBLE! Absolutely shit in terms of teen programs. Miserable old people. One lady called me an asshole for moving a chair)

Norwegian Spirit (My absolute favorite. Met so many good people. The staff was amazing. The food was great. And there was so much to do. I was kept occupied until 2 in the morning every night.)

The bottom line is, if you are looking for a great freestyle cruise, go with Norwegian.

I just went on my first cruise in January with my family. It was a 10 day cruise and everyone but me and my sis had all been on one before. We went with Celebrity on the ship Galaxy... it was amazing, very high class kinda thing, treat you like royalty. Man i feel bad for you, my aunt, uncle and cousins have been on like 7 or 8 cruises and they said Carnival was the worst of all out them all. I loved all the food there was to eat at any time you wanted, our boat had a pizza place that was open till 1am, i spent many nights there just chillin eatin a large pizza:P it was a good time all in all. I want to go back on another next year with my own money and a bunch of friends. What was your fav part of your cruise? mine was sitting in a friend i met theres penthouse sweet (the biggest fukin room on the boat) at 12 ordering a steak and cheese cake:P

EDIT: This is one of the most peaceful scenes i have ever seen personally:P

Like I said, Carnival has a TON to do. You are always going somewhere to do something. That is what freestyle cruising is all about. It isn't very high class. I, along with the rest of my family, aren't exactly what you would call high class. I can't stress enough though how bad the food on Carnival was. However, I was having such a fun time on Carnival that I didn't really care that much about the food. Also, Carnival had a 24 hour self-serve ice-cream machine. That just takes the cake.

I was on the Carnival Triumph for New Year's eve. BIGGEST PARTY of my life. Mine was also a week in the Caribbean. We went to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Martin/Maarten. There was also a huge casino on our ship and there was 24-hour pizza and ice cream. I'll never forget eating pizza at 2 AM and walking around out on the top deck with the warm air blowing and all the lights....fucking amazing.

EDIT: I didn't think the food on Carnival was that bad. My dad said it had improved since he was on Carnival in 1985. And Carnival has so many clubs and shows and stuff on the ship, you will never get bored there.

By no means am i saying Carnival is bad, but it wouldn't be suited for me cuz im only 17 so i cant drink or gamble which is what carnival is all about, just partying. and to frottage, you dont have to be rich, im no where near rich... but now because of the cruise we went on we cant have anymore family vacations, and we still had the smallest room on the boat, but i got luck and met both the people with the biggest rooms:P

hm. it seems like you'd have to be rich. my family's never gone on vacation. i'm not complaining though, seeing as how i have a brother and four sisters.

pretty sweet... kick-ass all inclusive food, the destinations were awesome... didn't really like the disney island tho... it just didn't have the same awesomeness that the other places had... cozumel had carlos n charlies right under a senor frogs... and grand caymans had some kick-ass snorkeling...

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise in December. It was a LOT of fun. I did so much stuff. A lot of times I sat on the top deck taking a nap and listening to music. They didn't have much for teen programs. It was mostly the cheesy hang out things.

Carnival isn't all about gambling and partying. Yes, they have a floor (floor 5 on the bigger boats) that is mostly taken up by a Casino, but, there's TONS of stuff to do.
