What are the best guitars priced under $1,000 in your opinion?
Right now I'm playing a Schecter Gryphon and it's definitely a great deal for the price. Its the current forum GOTM so I won't go into detail on why. Overall just an excellent affordable guitar.

Anything Carvin for metal.

A non custom V series comes at around $900 with a complete choice on bridge type (and excellent ones at that) and a coil splitter.

What about the 400 series? They are around 1300, with active pickups.. I'm curious if they can do classic rock, humbucker style, tbh.

Well this is kind of pointless since many guitar are used for many styles, but:

Lo gain: MIA Strat
Mid Gain: Schecter C-1 Classic
Hi Gain: RG 1570

IMO of course.

If you're not looking for any brands or labels, honestly we bought one of these and it sounds and looks amazing for its price. The cherry sunburst looks great. One thing I would reccomend is putting some different pickups in to it.

I'm not really in the market for a new guitar just yet but I thought I'd create this thread to give myself and other people an idea of what are the best affordable guitars under $1000.

To answer your question I play classic rock, hard rock, metal, punk, blues, and funk mostly. I prefer humbuckers but do have love for single coils for blues and funk play, I also prefer a thinner neck.
If I were to look for a new guitar under $1000 today I'd look at the ESP LTD EC-1000vb with EMGs, PRS SE singlecut, the Schecter C-1 Hellraiser, and an American HSS Strat.

schecter hellraiser c1 ... don't go with the floyd i kno it tempting because its a cheap original floyd rose , but something doesn't sit well with the body and the floyd, mines all effed up and everyone i've played is... but the hellraiser c1 is an unbeatable guitar for any style, since it comes with coil tap. its msrp is around 8 but you can easily find one for 5-6 mine with the floyd i talked them (at guitar center(satan)) down to 675, with a hard case chord and metronome,(needless to say i know wtf i'm doing when i haggle ;P) but yea, you should get one for no more than 7. and they're absolutlley gorgeous.play one. they got the action of a strat and the shreddability of an ibanez with a lovely ringing sustain.

the JS-100, Epiphone Futura Prophecy, or any of the ephiphone Zakk Wylde guitars.
OH! and the ibanez RGA7
