Unless you're some kind of god-metal band, I wouldn't think you'd need such a gimick anyways ;)

i played a place with a big laser lighting rig and a smoke machine one. it was awesome. felt like i was playing wembley stadium....but as soon as the lights went off i realised there were about 10 people there. good times.

i dont care what anyone says about it being lame...it looks aweseme, and people watch. its much more of a spectacle. we did get a round of tequilas bought for us too. so it must have looked pretty good.

Do it, I wanna be smoked homie.

Funny how all the smokers probably look at this thread without realising you mean smoke machines.

P.S. Is it bring your own smoke? ;)

if your well-known enough for them not to think your posers then go for it, ask whoever owns the place though first

sure, if you feel the need

Just remember to ask the owners/managers of the venue to make sure it is alright...they might not want it or someone with ashma might feel uncomforable.

fog machine + blacklights = 1 bada$$ show

lol, depends what kind of music, and how you're opening your show. Personally, i think it looks awesome if used strategically, but if you think that pumping fog throughout the entire show is good, you are wrong!

Maybe just ask everyone who goes to the gig if they have asthma or are allergic to smoke and get big purple bogies coming out their eyeballs whenever smoke comes near them.

If everyone says no, then its all good. Do the damn thing, and do it hard!

Watch it, small area + too much smoke = fire alarms going off...

Smoke = Dry ice, doesn't it not? I don't think dry ice sets off fire alarms...
