Do people from other countries find American accents sexy?

Well...There's the southern accent, Boston, the "general" accent and so forth.

Are any of these accents remotely attractive? Or are they just painful for you guys to listen to sometimes? :p:

For one thing, most people( american girls ;) ) think a British accent or an Italian accent and etc on a guy is hot.

For girls and guys...is it attractive?

No offense to anyone but I just find it so Annoying.

However, most other Americans sound like they have no accent to me so I can't really answer the Sexy part of your question.

some american girls like it, like girls from other parts of america. it's difficult to turn mine on, i have to be back in the south. i adapt accents easily, but i can't usually turn them on and off at will. i've been trying to perfect my english accent for picking up girls. the key is consistency and subtlety.

i am from the mountains of NC, i sound like a "Deliverance" character. Of course, that's because I actually starred in "Deliverance"

:) jk

EDIT there are different types of southern, as it crosses a large area. Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama is like Matthew McConnaughey; Texas is midwest slowed down a bit; Lousiana and Arkansas is like James Carville or Foghorn Leghorn; Tennesse and Kentucky tend to use southern idioms, but a weak accent. My area of NC is the stereotype comics make a living on. Hard on those "r" sounds, like a pirate crossed with Larry the Cable Guy who is about to go on Jerry Springer. Can't tell much about Virginia and West Virginia, they all sound accentless except down in the southwestern corner. Damn I put too much work into this edit...

I don't mind southern accents. Likely because my mom's whole side of the family is from the south. My uncles and my grandma all have southern accents.

As for finding American accents sexy...well, given that i'm American, i don't typically get a stiffy when i hear the girls i know talk. If i had to pick an American accent, though, I'd say southern. It's not as harsh as the northeastern accents, and the way people talk here in California is either without an accent or like obnoxious valley girls. And I shouldn't even have to say anything about midwestern accents :puke:

NOTE: To anyone I just offended: It was an accident, but I'm not sorry.

It's more that American, Canadian and Australian girls are mainly pretty hot. Canadian especially. And Canadian sounds American in a way. So... yea.

ohhhh, i see now, that was an attempt to be funny. Not every American is the stereotypical fat, inconsiderate, money hungry slob that seems to be placed in every other countries mind. There are some decent and hard-working individuals here. It is not our fault that we live in a nation where too much is handed to the people opposed to working for it. Same goes for the majority of the poor and homeless. There is also a lack of work incentive when they have the mind set that below average is good enough for them. I love America and everything, but it sure has gone down hill the past 7 years

Well, I guess I'll start this useless post off by saying I live in Kentucky and managed to drop my accent. When I was younger (around age 4) I lived in a rural part of the state, so of course I would use words like "y'all" instead of "you all" and so on. But, we moved away when I was five, and my accent dropped pretty darn (or is that "purty durn?") quick soon after.

It was funny because when me and my girlfriend first started talking, she had a nice, soft twang to her voice. I like that, actually, but like most people, I also cannot stand a thick, cracker-type Southern accent. It's brutal, it's annoying ... it's horrible. I've begun to notice her twang less and less, though ... I don't know if that's an effect of me talking to her for so long or just something that happens after you become involved with someone in one way or another after a period of time. I would remember, though, she would sometimes try to "reawaken" my accent and it just never worked. :p:

But to answer the question, if I was from another country, I wouldn't much give a damn about the accent. Think about it: no matter which American dialect you have, North American English is a pretty damn boring language and each accent lacks a certain property that gives it the character you hear when someone like from Spain or the U.K. speak it.

I have discovered in the past that English accents are hot to Americans though. For some reason even by rough stupid Northern accent has been said to be sexy (probably due to it being raped in indie **** music).

No, actually people from any other country loathe American accents. Hell, I was at Edinburgh castle on holidays and some random (extremely loud) American woman turned round to her friends and exclaimed 'KITCHENS, KITCHENS, KITCHENS!!!!!'.

Because she saw a sign that said kitchens. It's not the accent itself that's annoying, but you just come to expect that it will say something dumb/obnoxious/ignorant/incorrect.

all the chicks that ive encountered with british accents have very high pitched sqeeky voices and i find that very annoying but i know theyre not all like that im american so i cant answer TS question, i dont rly have an accent although sometimes my southern accent slips out and i find myself saying "yall" or "da gum" or something like that hhaa

as far as chicks with southern accents go, the heavy southern accents make them sound like hicks lol but a slight accent is pretty sexxy

I agree.

i'm in Cali right now on vacation, and all the hot dudes have really nice accents. ahaha.

Will You marry me right now? Thank you for giving us one good point, as most everyone here has turned this into a way to take a shot at americans.

I believe the Original poster was more talking about the way other GIRLS find american accents, not the horny 13 year olds of UG who have to talk internet smack to make themselves feel better.

For the record, i love british accents on girls, i dont care how "cockneyed" or difficult it is to understand. I think thats one of the best parts.

p.s.- Are you in Norcal, or Socal? The accents are different.

something like you just said? you're ignorant if you believe all americans are intellectually inferior to you, and they all say stupid things. hell, every country has people that will say stupid things. please don't remain so close minded.

Being a random American guy from Eastern Pennsylvania... Somehow I don't really have an accent. I have noticed when I'm stoned that I tend to color some words in an Irish style, but that could be long lost PA ancestors speaking through me, no idea.

I've found that if you can speak English with an accent of one of the Romantic Languages, American girls will often drop trou like lightning.

I hate most American accents to be honest. Sorry Southerners, but the basic "Slack jawed yokel", or Country singer accent just gets to me. It's as if you don't even try to speak correctly at all. A slight inflection is usually okay, but it still brings thoughts of the stereotypical Gator Farm owner with more teeth than brain cells. You assholes, you gave us the **** words like "cuss", "y'all", and "ain't". They all spawn from the ignorance of syllables and simple consonants. I have to say though, "ain't" is in a league of its own, that could have been any number of other words to begin with. "Ruff" for roof and "Wooter" for water is acceptable (and I don't even say them!) but as History shows us, the South really brings America down. Look it up, there's much more 'bad' history than there is 'good' from the South.

Now that I've gotten some of my aggressions out, a Russian accent on girls and women is awesome. :D

Most Europeans (whom, along with Americans, make up the majority of UG) won't say American accents are sexy because frankly, many Europeans are elitists who look down on the average American because we are stereotyped to be racist, fat, McDonalds-loving cubicle workers.

As an American, I find Hispanic accents to be quite sexy. :liplick:

American accents get on my nerves, but boston i can handle.

But even in Australia i've noticed different accents, especially in the country and the city areas. Quite often country folk speak with a deeper tongue then city/coastal folk.

Though i think i have a Steve Irwin esque accent, which is probable considering he lived about 20 mins from me

Having just got back from a holiday in Europe, and meeting people from all over the globe, i have to say the following:

Most of the Americans I met had very annoying accents. In particular females. Its not as bad when you are completely immersed in it (I lived in Texas for a year) but when you hear a room full of different voices and accents, the American accent makes my ears bleed.

I find british accents on some girls to be cool, but then again it depends on what area they're from as british accents can vary quite greatly. I liked french, german, brazillian and polish accents a lot, but i found out of all (yes bias) when i heard this Australian chick talk, her voice sounded the sexiest (Not all Australian girls' accents are good). I am Australian.

I was born in Alabama, and I lived there for 10 years, yet I sound like I'm from Iowa. It baffles my parents, too.

Speaking of accents, my dad's from Aurora, Illinois, and he fakes a southern accent badly all the time, especially in church. When he gets pissed, though, he goes back to his natural Midwestern accent. He still pronounces words the Midwestern way when he has his southern accent on, so it's kinda funny to hear.

Southern accents can be really hot as long as they're not thick and the speaker uses correct grammar.
