I've been wanting to get into listening to some Jazz and Blues stuff for a while now can anyone recommend me some good records to get started with?

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Arguably the best jazz album of all time. Anything by the greats - Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, etc.

In terms of blues, SRV, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Hendrix, etc are all good

A newer Jazz Guitar album I just got is JazzThing II with Randy Bachman, Jay Geils
Luc Robilliard. It's pretty mellow but if you like that Jazz sound I recomend it.

Get 'Bitches Brew' by Miles Davis (can't believe nobody said that yet) or 'Somethin' Else' by Cannonball Adderly (with Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Sam Jones, and Hank Jones).
