Who here loves The Grape? Vastly underrated psychedelic SF band that by all accounts could have made it extremely huge had their marketing and promotion strategy not turned out to be a flop.

Recently, Listen My Friends! The Best of Moby Grape (http://www.amazon.com/Listen-Friends-Best-Moby-Grape/dp/B000P46PWS) was released

This collection of songs has most of their top hits, I for one feel like they are missing out some important ones, but for the hardcore fan it's recommended that they try to find the Vintage - The Very Best Of Moby Grape (http://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Very-Best-Moby-Grape/dp/B0000028TS/ref=pd_bbs_8?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1200005793&sr=8-8) which still isn't perfect but it's much more extensive.

One of my favorite tracks on the self-titled LP is "Someday" -- very beautiful. In fact, I will share some youtube links of their songs and performances. Poor quality sound and video but these are just a taste.

Anyone had a chance to listen to Skip Spence's solo album, Oar? I hear it's great.

I think they could have would have had more success, but most people associated them with the Jefferson Airplane, arguably the greatest band of the psycadelic era.

I've never heard anything by them. I want to though because I know that Robert Plant liked them and the rest of Zeppelin hated them. And in the early days Plant would make the guys play some Moby Grape covers. So I'm curious to see what they sound like.

You can hear some of it on Youtube. Just add the name to search!

Not at all bad - but it was just country rock in beads and flares. Not bad, but not great either. Skip Spence had a good voice, shame he didn't have some outstanding material to work with.

The clips on youtube don't really do them justice.

Grape was great. Oar is very good too.
Anyone have tab for 'It's a beautiful day'?

Moby Grape isn't my favorite San Francisco-area band, but it's hard to deny that they were something special. I own several of their albums, each enjoyable.

Plant was a fan of them. If you are able to, listen to Never from Grape Jam-it may sound familiar. ;)
