What are your favorite instrumental songs? For me it has to be

Any Colour You Like (Pink Floyd)
Great Gig In the Sky (Pink Floyd)
Blues For Salvador (Carlos Santana)
Everything instrumental that Frank Zappa ever did

What are your opinions on the best instrumental songs?

Great Gig isn't really instrumental.........

But besides that, I'd have to say "The Ox" by The Who. And probably some others that I can't really think of right now.

For Classic Rock only instrumentals:

Hocus Pocus by Focus - only song I know of containing both melt your face off guitar solos and yodelling. :)

Race With the Devil on a Spanish Highway - Al DiMeola

Magnum Opus - Kansas - yeah I know there's a few lyrics at the beginning but they're pretty much incidental.

Fanfare to the Common Man - Emerson Lake and Palmer

I s'pose. I guess the voice is an instrument.

You s'pose? If you ever let an operatic singer hear/read that, you are in mortal danger.

therussian
01-16-2008, 05:31 PM
Yes, I do s'pose. I'll take the risk. Unless, of course, you yourself are an operatic singer, in which I tremble in fear of your level 91 noob slaying powers.

Needless to say however, Clare Torry did marvelous on Great Gig

I kinda missed the fact that this was posted in the Classic Rock forum, not the shred one.

For Classic Rock, my fav instrumental would have to be something by Steve Howe of Yes. Either that or "The Fish" also by Yes

EDIT: or "Jessica: by the Allman Bros.
