Hello UG,
In an effort to expand my spectrum of modern blues artists I listen to, I ask what are your personal favorite 21st century blues guitarists? You may list up to three.

Mine are:

What qualifies 21st century bluesmen? There are lots of old guys that are still playing like Robert Cray, BB King, and Buddy Guy. If you just mean younger guys, then Derek Trucks is one of my favorites right now.

Derek Trucks, Jack White and seasick steve.

Steve's easily the best blues guitarist no-one has really heard of. Dog house blues is a kickass song.

the doors were popular in LA before anywhere else. it often takes time for popularity to spread.

well i meant over here in the US he's not. Everyone i show his stuff to their like "holy ****, this is amazing." And THEN they see the guitar only has 3 strings on it. He still blows my mind, and I've been listening to his stuff for awhile.

Oh right, yeah he's good. Great live show, it's like half music/half stories. Went to see him in Glasgow, was a good gig.

Derek trucks' slide work is literally some of the most beautiful guitar ive ever heard. the dude deserves every ounce of respect ever thrown his way. Dan Aurback of the black keys has some great riffs and songs too, and you just gotta love john mayer.

Trucks, Haynes, Johnny Lang, Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and uh, Davy Knowles from the band Back Door Slam (after the Cray song) is one hell of a guitarist.

I guess Bramhall II as well, but I can't really listen to too much of his stuff, his voice really annoys me

I saw him on Jool's.

Awesome. Brilliant sound too, from such minimal gear.

2) Johnny Walker of The Soledad Brothers/ Cut in The Hill Gang
3) Joe Bonamassa
4) Dan Auerbach
5) Derek Trucks
