i know that this is the jazz and blues forum, but i thought maybe this is the best forum to ask for help. I love country music, but i come from europ and I really want to start listening to it. Sounds like a newbie question, but can somebody here point me out to some nice and well known country artsits/bands?

thanks anyways :]

Try Leadbelly, Mr David Viner http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0tE4m6JdXCY , and Johnny Cash.

David Viner is one of my favourite singers.

Enjoy.

Willie Nelson's my favorite. Also try Waylon Jennings. There are several rock bands that play a lot of country tunes, too like Elvis, Skynyrd, and the Rolling Stones.

Look at the Chet Atkins long list of songs. You won't find any better. Some are ---Waiting For Susie B., A Little Mark Musik, A Taste Of Honey, Country Gentleman, Streets Of Loredo, Sweet Alla Lee, Jam Man. A good selection is in the Hal Leonard book called Chet Atkins Almost Alone. The number is HL00690158.
