This thread needs more Gallhammer, even though I don't like them that much, and find them a bit poserish. Although I guess they are somewhat decent.

Edit: On a second thought, shouldn't this go in the rec thread?

How do you find them poserish exactly?

Sabbat, Metalucifer and Gorgon win this, as well as the aforementioned Gallhammer.

How do you find them poserish exactly?

I read about them in a magazine a few years ago, and I got the feeling it was something like; "Yeah, lets be like hellhammer and black metal, rawr satan".

Although the article could have been slightly off and sliding a bit from the truth, not to mention it wasn't a credible magazine anyway.
So I don't know... that was my first impression and it has kinda stuck. I guess I need to give this band more time, listen to them more to form a valid oppinion.

chylde_of_fire
02-15-2008, 06:29 PM
The way I see it, they're just three people who love Hellhammer and Amebix, and formed a band in that vein. Whatever, they rule, and are one of the best black metal bands today in an ocean of mediocrity.

Was it with Nathan on vocals ?. I don't like melo death for the most part so Intsetine Baalism does'nt do it for me. Coffins is just so incredibly badass, atleast i find.Their rifss are so iresistably headbanginble.

yeah nathan on vocals and i thought their (coffins) production was really dry and didnt help the music... annihilating any intensity the band might have, ... if any... anyway, have ya heard An Anatomy of the Beast? latter IB is much more melodic, then you can just dig further behind their disco for more brutal **** lol, and to be truthful hardly anything makes me headbang/air guitar... but uh Spirit of the Soldier is among one of those... but I still believe God Was Created was teh pwn -second favorite album ever or first really lol-

I don't like any Vehemence album other then God Was Created they all have terrible production and weak ass vocals.God Was Created has such great contrast with the wicked melodies and Nathans Gutturals.Though the new song they posted on their myspace is excellent so despite the ammount of times they break up and get back together i think we can expect some good thinsg from them in the future.
With Coffins one of the main reasons i love them is the production. You get that gritty old school sound that just sounds so evil and raw.,brutal music with brutal production is good in my books. Death Metal isn't supposed to be all polished and high budget sounding anyways.Though some cleaner production jobs can work well as long as it isn't overdone i would take production like Coffins over some lame ass pro tools garbage sound like Arch Enemy or something. Besides Coffins is just badass, we need more mid paced doomy sounding old school death metal in the world these days.

Edit:
Woundeep is pretty tight i must admit

God Was Created is godly, but uh, Spirit of the Soldier has some bad ass riffs and drumming -and a bad ass solo- so =p I happen to enjoy the vocals in that one, but as far as that album goes... thats the most I really like -aside uh You Dont Have To Be Afraid Anymore- ... actually it has some pretty nice riffs save for some songs =\... but each to our own

I guess doom never does much to me... I feel it lacks intensity or climaxing most of the time dunno something memorable =\ but I'll give Coffins another listen I guess =p... Still though have you heard uh Intestine Baalism's older stuff? and well there's Gutturals on all of their albums and some are contrasted with melody and some other thrashier deathier riffs o_O... but they added too many leads I guess

hahha well doom is an acquired taste,i love it for it's brooding and crushing nature. Nothing else can send a shiver down my spine while owning me with heavyness like doom metal can, although Coffins is more of Hellhammer/old school death tribute band r then a doom band.A lot of old school death is an equally acquired taste, i used to hate doom and old school death but now i love it,it also helps to get really stoned and listen to it,when you listen again sober you'll have a new appreciation but that could just be me haha.

From what I've heard, CD prices are rather high in Japan, so Western artists put bonus tracks on so that the Japanese consumers feel like they are getting their money's worth.

NosferatuZodd09
02-20-2008, 04:21 PM
yeah, that and I think its a demand from the stores/labels there to add bonus tracks to the bands otherwise they wont distribute the cds

Mucc's heavier stuff is also pretty good. I'd recommend the Kuchiki no Tou album, if you want metal.

I saw them in concert a few years back, BLOOD, unless I'm wrong. The guitarist Hizumi (I think?) spat blood on me, it was pretty awesome at the time. Anyway, they arn't even metal, they are goth rock.
Most of the actual J-Metal bands dont do the visual kei thing aside from a few band members, like Ryu in Blood Stain Child. Since when do people who listen to real metal care about looks anyway? Most mettalers are ugly as ****, its all about the music.

Off of that tangent and back onto another. Kadenzza, again, is pure ****ing win, by far the best "grand sympho orchestral kamikaze metal" I've ever heard. Check out the song "Kamikaze Blows" for the why.
