okay im playing friday and im trying to figure out some stuff.
so heres my question.

1. should i jump around when the music hits? Depends on your audience
2. should i throw picks out there? If people are moshing, not too many people may notice it
3. should i wear a hat while playing? Going to go with no here, expose yourself to the crowd.
4. is it smart to bring extra chords, batterys, power supply, and strings. Of course! You'd be a fool not to!

im playing bass and singing back up.

How many people, and what kind of music?
around 200 to 300 people will be there i suspect.

due to a big band who is trying to play at extreme thing this year and some other bands who are bringing like 50 people.

my bands brining about 30.

so ya around 200 to 300.

music:

our bands music is Rock/Alternative.

other bands are from Rock, alternative to metal, hardcore

only wear a hat if your:
a) a douchebag
b) have a fetish for hats

Jumping around? Wearing hats? Who d'yer think you are? Angus Young? ;)

Just concentrate on the music for now, your actions on stage will evolve as you become more experienced at gigging.

As for the hat, yeah, why not. But I'd advise looking in a mirror first, and if you look a pillock in it, don't bother.

Throwing picks out at the audience is cool only if:
a) the audience is clearly digging your show

AND

b) you have customized picks with your name or band logo or something on them - not just generic Jim Dunlops. Unless your name happens to be Jim Dunlop, which would be both cool and ironic.

check www.legendpicks.com . They did ours, and they turned out really well.

i will throw probably a pick out to a girl at the end of the set because ya it would be cool for her.

since its a little place and over 200 people are coming i think people will dig it.

there are some rock, metal, hardcore, alternative bands playing and thats it. 7 bands for only 5 dollars :)

1. Not to much.
2. No.
3. What ever floats your boat, if you normally wear a hat (like me :D ) than sure.
4. Very much so.

I'd say why not on everything other than the hat....Hats are a no-no...especially when you're a bassist. And especially if it's a green and white trucker hat.

EDIT: To anyone who gets that....You should be ashamed of yourself. I know I am.
