Ok, hit me up with some Louis Armstring records. I've just sat through one of his songs on jazzradio and to be honest, it's put me in such a good mood.

Well, you can always get a Greatest Hits compilation to get you started.

But I'd say "West End Blues" by the Hot Fives/Sevens, "Hello Dolly", and "What a Wonderful World"

These albums are early/mid/later years so you'll have a good span of Satchmo! But again, since he made like a gazillion albums, you should get a good "hits" collection (hopefully something that's at least 2-CD) and get a real taste for his stuff.

Oh, and don't forget about the stuff he did with Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, which IMO are his best collaborations. Hope it helps...and that you become a fan of the one and only Ambassador of Good Will ;)

This video has the ability to make me smile no matter what mood I'm in.

I'll second any Hot Fives stuff.

Check out his recordings with Oscar Peterson (What's new, Blues in the night, ...) and Duke Ellington (It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing). He doesn't play much trumpet on those (only a solo on the last song I think), but his singing is awesome!
