Any SWEET BABY fans here? Discuss the band that Maximum RocknRoll would cum all over even though all of their songs are about girls. Huh...

memebers of Crimpshrine and they went on to do stuff like ONION FLAVORED RINGS, GO SAILOR, PINHEAD GUNPOWDER and a buncha other stuff... it's basically CRIMPSHRINE - Jeff Ott (CRAZY GUY) + 2 other dudes... but it doesn't really sound like CRIMPSHRINE... well ok, it does a little bit. It's more Rocknrollish.

As far as bands around today that I'd compare them to: MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE, MORTICIA'S LOVERS, TULSA, FUTURE VIRGINS.

Also very similar sounding to early GREEN DAY... I heard an interview with GREEN DAY where they said that people used to confuse them with SWEET BABY when their name was SWEET CHILDREN cos their names are similar and they sounded alike. HICKEY also obviously took a big influence from them.

Aaron Cometbus isn't gonna sue me, he doesn't get money from these. He makes all his money selling books on the street... and it's his choice.

Oh wow, I feel stupid, I missed the "Click here to start downloading." I tried clicking "save to my files" and it said something about invalid something or another. XD

Maximum rock n roll reviews === 'UHM right here we have some heavy punk . It is pretty metallish in the veins of AMEBIX, NAUSEA, ANTISECT. played pretty well, some nice metal riffs''

UHM exscuse? isn't that just saying 'its a crust band"

with MRR it depends on the reviewer, some of them know what they're talking about, some of them are morons. With Razorcake unless yer like that No Idea/Recess Records style pop-punk band they're really not gonna like you... which sucks. I still am all MRR > Razorcake cos it's got more variety to it and I get a broader spectrum of punk... but I still like Razorcake coz Rev. Norb writes for it.

Great band. People consider them the first pop-punk band ever. They're playing at Insubordination Fest this summer, I hope to go!

02-24-2008, 10:23 PM
really? When is insubordination fest?

02-24-2008, 11:15 PM

really? When is insubordination fest?

It'll be sometime from mid-June to mid-July. They have yet to decide on a venue.

Cool. Definitely reminded me of the Mr T Experience.

Great stuff- this is what I'd imagine the Beatles would sound like as a pop-punk band.
