My amp totally sucks and I've got a big gig coming up soon. Idk what new amp to go with. i play metal, and i like as much distortion as possible, but i want something that will sound good. I'm thinking a Randall, but not sure yet.

A Valveking would be good, as would a Peavey Windsor combo, but that has less wattage. A B-52 AT-112 has a good amount of distortion, but idk about price. An OD pedal with a Peavey Classic 30 would be great, but Classic 30s are a bit over $500. But i think it would be worth it.

New its the Peavey Valveking 50 watt 112 tube combo, $429 USD. Don't be afraid to look used.

Your gonna have trouble getting tubes for that price. Try and get one used. or you can go w/ a solid state, or valvestate. Maybe a vox valvestate. What amp do you have now, and how long have you been playing.

I think the best idea would be either a B-52 or a Valveking w/ overdrive.

Edit: Yeah, go used if you need to.

Also, Vox doesn't make valvestates. Valvestate is a marketing gimmick made by Marshall, and the Marshall valvestates are all pretty bad amps. The Vox has the Valvetronix line, which has a single tube in it (although it's pretty much a gimmick too), and the amps are pretty good for what they are.

If you buy online you can get a valveking for only 400$ which gives you some cash for a cab.

A cab that costs only 100 is most probably a very bad cab. He's better off getting the combo (and maybe an OD pedal).

Wow nevermind the link the guy above gave has WAY better prices. Also if you look around on CL you can find pretty good deals on cabs. Theres one guy selling a 412 Carvin w/ V-30s in Seattle for $200 on there right now.
EDIT: Dude thanks for that link they have Visual Sound amps for like half of what they are anywhere else.

Well so far it looks like the valveking is pretty popular, but i wouldn't mind staying solid state, if it was good enough for dime, its good enough for me lol

^Yeah it looks really fishy. On second thought just get the 112 off MF or find something used.

ya i'm trying to stay away from line 6, i have a spider lll right now and it gets a sick distortion tone but everything is way to digital, so ya basically i don't really want a modeling amp

I just got a Peavey Windsor, I think it might be the best amp under $500. Good dirty tones, but doesn't do drop tuning metal well. Has a good effects loop though, so, it isn't too bad on the cheap side.
