First off, I have auditions on the 20th, and so I would like it to be easy, but not too easy so that I kinda drift off in the middle of it. I want PURE blues, not blues-rock or anything like that, though I like Texas electric blues, I'd rather something a bit...I guess slower.

I want to get into some Mississippi Delta blues (hopefully without slide, sounds crazy, but yeah). I'm also trying my hand at my own song, but if that doesn't go through, I'd like a back up. I was originally going to do Three O' Clock Blues by B. B. King, but thought I should look at some other songs.

One last thing. I could care LESS whether the people at my high school like it, just wanna play, so as long as I can find good tabs for it, I'll be just dandy.

Thank you.

You should try Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughan. that's slow and it's texas

Texas Flood is one of my considerations, but I always thought that it was a bit more...advanced for me.

(This is probably more blues-rock, but I think it would be good: ) Brown Sugar by ZZ Top

How bout Sweet Little Angel?

Oh Oh Oh.... do Catfish Blues!!! A classic

The Thrill Is Gone would be good. Not too difficult at all, either.

Get a good backing track to play to.. Just do any standard 12 bar blues shuffle.. Sing a verse or 2, improv a solo for 6 minutes, sing another verse and finish with a smooth outro lick.

Do Red House, or make up your own words even.

That's what I'm thinking, well, except maybe a bit of a shorter solo, but I just thought I'd get something to fall back on.

Oh, and anyone know where I could find a few backing tracks?

03-13-2008, 02:29 AM has LOADS of great live-band recorded backing tracks for blues. Find one you like, make up some words or find words that fit, play a good solo.. Done!

I live the Life I love and I Love the Life I Live by Muddy Waters.

Look at some Piedmont blues players, that's kinda similar to the delta blues, but they don't play slide generally.

Thanks for all of your help everyone, I've already started working on a song and if that somehow fails, I'll stick with Three O' Clock blues.

Try Boat Gig by Tribal Tech. Typical blues but with a little more flavor and fun.

Well, my school having little to no organization in this talent show auditions, I had to find out they were moved to a janitor. So, just means more time I can actually work on it.
