This is a new piece I started writing this week that I think is actually really sweet. It's very progressive, and it's influenced a lot by Dream Theater and BTBAM. It's one of my better pieces, I think. It's got a very nice feel to it.

C4C.

Oh yeah, I haven't finished it yet. :p:

The lick at the beginning is pretty cool, but maybe a bit too scalar, if you know what I mean. This next riff at bar 3 is good, but it's so happy sounding. It doesn't evoke any feelings that I would normally associate with metal. Maybe you're just being creative. It gets much better at 26. Verse 1 is probably my favorite part of the song. It sounds exactly like DT. I really like the riff at 38 too. I'm not overly fond of the chorus to be honest. It's just too happy and corny and cheesy sounding and it kind of ruins the epic prog stuff you had going on before it. The interlude is ok. It sounds fine, but it's a bit boring. Maybe some more speed on that riff?

Overall, this song was a little hit or miss. I loved the verse, but the chorus and the interlude didn't really do it for me. I think it's got plenty of potential, but it's needs work and it needs finishing. PM me when it's done, I'd love to her the final version.

Crit my new one? Prog/Thrash (http://ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=824593)

It took me two listens to make my mind up on it, but I've come to the conclusion that this is going to be one hell of a piece when it's finished. Both brutal and happyish - an odd mix, but one that works well so far. I'm very interested to see where you go with this.

At this moment I can't give any real criticisms as I can't find any real faults. The only thing I might change is the lowering of keyboard usage, but it's fine as it is. Good job so far.

Almost reminded me a bit of the band Magic Pie. Check them out if you haven't heard of them. I really like this. Keep writing more stuff.
