Name some good lady bassists.
I'm sure there are more out there than what I know of.

Paz from A Perfect Circle
I nodded agreeably with this.
Vanessa Carlton's left hand
I laughed so very hard to this.

And, as an addition to the thread, I don't know who she was, and I am starting to think she was a production of my dying imagination, but one day, I walked into the Musician's Friend local to me, and I heard an excellent bass groove going down. I wanted to see if I could talk to the person doing it, but the moment I rounded the corner, I saw it was a rather attractive female.

As such, I was A) intimidated that my slightly mediocre bass skills would make her laugh, and B) ZOMGWTFBBQ GURL BASSIST HAAAAAAAWT!!!!11one.

She picked up the bass she was playing, which happened to be a simple Fender Jazz bass, turned off the amp she was on, and walked out of my life forever.

I've never been the same since.

Everyone has mentioned most of my personal favourites, but don't forget the grandmother of all us female bass players--Carol Kaye. She broke the mold back in the 1960s as a studio musician and has played for everyone from the Beach Boys to Zappa. Despite having a less than ideal personality at times, she's a solid player.

I agree with Waynes World, and The Subways. I am unsure that the Waynes World one was actually a bassist, but man was she hot, same goes for The Subways.

As for female bassists as a whole, I find that they are like a fine wine. They do not fit most meals, but the ones they do fit make an epiphone of godly flavors.

The one thing that I do not like about female bassists is that they are competition, but I guess you could apply that to the entire bass player population.

I think many female musicians feel that they have to go the extra mile to be accepted. Until recently, you could have put me firmly in that group, but I realized that's a stupid and dangerous path to take. Frankly, I'd love to see the day when we can get around all that and just be musicians. That's one of the things I really love about Tina Weymouth and Suzi Quattro. They really never gave a rat's ass about the fact they were "female" bass players. They played for the music.

As for the first part, lol, I could get into a large debate on that one with you on that, but I am not sure its worth the effort. I just don't think the sex of an individual really matters much on the ability of the playing or the fit to the music. You alone limit yourself, not your sex. You fit because you are a good bass player, you don't if you aren't.

But I still like you Kranoscorp, even though you feel that way AND own Behringer :D

You know I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure that's a guitar which was made for the cover of the album(hence why I thought the guy posting it was making a joke. It's purely for looks and was based on a Gibson Firebird. The strings are actually chains, so there may be four of them which would account for why it's mistaken as a bass.

Also, the pickups look very much like humbuckers. (The guitary ones)

I'm pretty sure there was an interview on this site with her that went through all this.

And why the hell would she be holding a bass on the front? Seriouzly...

I thought it was a 4-string Thunderbird. The tuners would be facing up though, firebirds point down. That country chick Taylor Swift actually plays her damn glitter guitar so I figured one covered in mirrors wouldn't be out of the question.

Vivian Slaughter from Gallhammer, pretty much the only female bassist I could name. I really gotta start doing my homework.
She is surprisingly hot, in a feral, animalisticc kind of manner.

EDIT: although as a bassist, she is rather terrible. Does she even know what an equalizer is? Amd cerainly she could think of better basslines than what she currently offers, she needs to try.
Although, I would hit it.

This chick even has her own signature strings!
Billy Sheehan probably looks back on this picture as a bad experiance. :\

Stuff like that happens to me all the time. A friend of mine and I were at a bar, and there was a live band with a smoking hot lead singer and a dude playing through a Behringer stack. We both look at the stage and look at eachother at the same time. Dude says "oh my God...", referring to the girl, and I said "yeah man, I can't believe it either", referring to the Behringer.

I wouldn';t even have noticed if I hadn't gone to glance at the headstock for how many strings it had.

Here's my lady bassist! Except she plays a Danelectro DC:Well, since nobody else will, I'll say it - lucky.

Quite the lovely lady you have there. Pretty sure I lost my chance for getting the only hot bassist chick I know. :(

May i ask why all these female bassists you keep showing are wearing short skirts? Is it just the trend with female bassists? :P

Yes, the joke! You see, when someone puts several men in a list of women and says the entire list is of women, he's lying. He's lying to be humorous, since those men aren't women! But he said they were! But they're not! It's called sarcasm!

Really! Like, Oh. My. God Tiffany! *squeals*

It's a bad fday for the bass forum when someone has to explain sarcasm
