UG.TV Live! is on its way to you, and below is how we'll kick it off.

We offer you, as a band/musician, a chance to rock out in front of thousands of UG users, with only you and a webcam placed in your garage/room/stadium.

Seems like a nice opportunity, you say? Well, we hope it'll turn out to be even better than it sounds!

The preliminary plan for the project is to webcast only one band a week, with the announcement (consisting of the band's name and air time) placed on the home page of UG for the whole week prior to the show.

If you are a member of a band, if this band is confident enough to kick some ass live, and if you've got everything necessary for webcasting - leave your request for participating by writing the following info in the comments:

Name of your band
Link to your band's profile on Ultimate-Guitar.com
Your location
Preferable webcasting time (in GMT please)

Also, be sure to let us know if you have something better then a simple webcam and build in your laptop mic, the stronger setup you've got - the more chances you have to be one of the first bands to play on UG.TV Live!

After few days of collecting your "applications", we'll run a special page with a list containing the limited number of bands. Users will be able to vote for the acts they like most of all there, and one performer will be picked each week. The list will be updated weekly of course, so don't be afraid if you won't find yourself in the first edition.

The page with the video stream itself will have a chat, so both users and the bands can communicate!

PS: Any suggestions and opinions are much welcomed as always

Due to the not-astounding quality of most laptop/webcam microphones, is it possible to ask bands with the right equipment to give audio via a mixer feed?

This looks ****ing mental, but I guess I should sign up. I'm a bit wary of it being live though, I like having an audience I can see. Is there going to be something like this that is prerecorded too?

I have a very good audio setup usually used to record but can use it for live and can use my mini DV video cam for live use as well. This means I should be able to give out a nice strong audio and video connection.

If I get picked I would be doing "Deadly Cupcake", a song I made a while ago and fixed up some. Being a one man band, I would have to play my custom backing track while singing and playing guitar live on cam but that should be no problem at all.

EDIT:

I signed up for an Ustream account and tested my gear, everything seems to be working without any problems. Quality seemed great as well. For video I'm going out a Sony Handycam and into my video capture card normally used to capture analog video. For audio I'm running though an m-audio 2496 PCI interface normally used for audio recording.

For the vocals, I may use an overhead shotgun mic out of view from the cam. I normally do this for my videos but if it picks up too much noise from the guitar strumming I may just use the SM57 on a stand off to the side of me.

Im ready to do a live show...Next week...(I'm very busy this week with school ending...)

I have great audio and video gear, details in my about me section of my UG profile.

PS if anyone has money to spend and wants to get better audio out for their live show go on over to the Riffs & Recordings section and find out what you need to buy, I will happily help anyone with questions, (as always).
sounds great!

still, pay attention to the fact that the first show won't happen earlier then in two weeks' time

Haha... nice opportunity.

Two question:

1-Can we make music videos/video clips of the band instead of live show?(cos we're great in studio recording, but almost suck live sometimes  )

2-Would we be able to delete those videos?

It would be logical and preferable if someone from the performing band (or just a friend for example) looks after the webcasting process and chat with the users during the show.

Neither pre-recorded sessions nor archiving the live ones are supported yet, we want to make the project literally live:)

That's what I was thinking too, but that would kind of defeat the point. But a lot more people would get involved if this was more like just prerecorded, streamed tv.

So, the first webcasting turned out to be a mess. TSN's show started earlier, hence you haven't seen it. Yeah, total bummer, although we have learned a lot.

I wanna make few brief announcements:

First, and very important, the UG.TV Live! will be a bi-weekly or even monthly show.

By the way, thanks a lot for submitting your applications, and I hope there will be much more of them - so we'll be able to have a serious line-up of bands to choose from and time to prepare properly to each show rather than repeat today's incident.

And second, we will pay much more attention to the show schedules so nothing is messed up.

Finally, the show that happened few hours ago and which almost no one could discuss real time, to our sorrow:

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/587742
http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/587754

More announcements coming up soon, and thanks in advance for understanding! The UG.TV Live! feature won't pass away that easy :)
