Who are some of the best vocal jazz artists? I'm especially looking for slow jazz tunes sung, like autumn leaves or my funny valentine as examples. I'd prefer more modern artists but the classics are good also. Any suggestions?

there both very good and I already really liked frank sinatra but let me be more specific about the sound im thinking of. slow saxophones, brushed drumkits, and vocals, female vocalists sound better in this setting i think but either would do.

The ones to check out first:
Billie Holiday - her voice wasn't great in quality. But hot damn, could that lady sing. She puts every ounce of herself into each note and you can hear it. She's whiskey; fiery, a bit rough, but so fulfilling.
Sarah Vaughn - Brilliant technique and delivery, with not inconsiderable power; champagne.
Ella - I can listen to her voice for hours without tiring. The overwhelming purity and nuance is constantly fascinating. Good wine.

Brandon Boyd is capable of some very jazzy vocals as seen this video-Incubus - A certain shade of green (http://youtube.com/watch?v=uNBkLGaB1eE)

Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra are great places to start. go to pandora.com and learn from there.

Chet Baker! He's not your average singer, but he's got a lot of emotion (and his singing is a great extension of his trumpet playing)
