Ok, I've been playing guitar for around 3 years, and have spent most of it learning and playing the blues, but here's something I've enver worked out.

At the end of almost every blues/ rock and roll song there's always two chords - a sort of bluesy goodbye - that I can never work out.

They don't seem to be any of the chords in the standard I - IV - V sequence, and I can't seem to discern what they are.

Help me out?
Cheers.

it's sometimes the vi-v type deal. Play the dominant major 9 chord and slide it down one fret.

So in A, play a F dominant 9 and slide it down to an E dominant 9.

I think, sounds okay to me anyway.. it's just a modified turnaround that goes to the I chord 1octave up, instead of the V chord for the turnaround.. example like a key of G turnaround.. instead of:

e--3---3---3-------3--2---
B-3-3-2-2-1-1-0----4--3---
G--------------0---3--2---
D---------------------0---
A-------------------------
E-------------------------

You can do..

e--3---3---3-------3--3---
B-3-3-2-2-1-1-0----4--3---
G--------------0---3--4---
D---------------------5---
A-------------------------
E-------------------------

Does that sound right, and make any sense?

maybe you mean a sharpened I chord followed by the I chord, I tend to do that sometimes. So, in A the final 2 chords would be A# then A.

That works too.

Cheers fellas

I like the feel of the dominant 9 method, personally.
