Funny little Beatles cover band, but "punked up"

They make me giggle.

EDIT: Forgot the link, lol. http://www.myspace.com/thepunkles

They're good.

My band do a punk cover of Eleanor Rigby.

That's hilarious in a great way. I'm not sure if I actually like them or just find them to be the silliest thing I've ever heard. His voice isn't really my favorite, but this is just so funny.

Yeah man.

It's really cool because I've added extra chord changes to the chorus and it sounds really cool.

It's a bastard to sing as high as McCartney, but if you do it in a lower range it doesn't really work.

But yeah, I'm looking forward.

The Ramones wore wigs.

Well, Marky did, and so did Johnny around 1984.

That would have been amusing if I knew what the original songs sounded like, but I try not to listen to the Beatles.

More's the pity.

The Beatles are a really good group. Especially the experimental psychedelic studio era (Abbey Road / Revolver / Sgt Pepper's) despite George Harrison's dabblings with indian music and culture. The music they produced under the limitations of the abbey road studios is breathtakingly good.

Some of the early Beatles stuff hasn't dated well, though.

And Norweigian Wood is a piece of crap.

I once read in a book, that 90% of all Beatles songs deal with love

That sounds pretty unlikely. It's probably a relatively high figure, but it's nowhere near that high.

Besides, it's common knowledge that 86% of statistics are made up on the spot.

The Damned's version of Help is still far superior.

EDIT: And on a side note, I like a few Beatles songs but I'm tired of people calling them "the greatest rock band ever". They were nothing more than a pretty boy pop band. Albeit one that wrote some decent songs.

I agree that The Beatles weren't a rock band, but they were more than a "pretty boy" pop band. Even if you don't like them, you have to admit that they're probably one of the most (if not THE most) influential pop bands ever.

Ha, after listening to these guys a couple more times, they're really good. It's kind of how those songs should have sounded.

Just uploaded a backing track for Eleanor Rigby that we did today.

It's not particularly special, because Wallace didn't know the song so just improvised it in one take.

I think that once I overdub some jarring and unpleasant vocal harmonies over it it'll sound OK though :)
