Flipper rules, so I made a thread for them. Seems reasonable.

There's their myspace, but you all most likely already know them.

Discuss Flipper.

I love Flipper--I live near SF and the locals who were around at the time still talk about how great Flipper were to see live in the 1980s in their original lineup. I have a friend at work who actually saw both Flipper and Negative Trend. I want his past.

I don't know why, but I never have gotten around to seriously listening to them. I've only heard two or three songs. It's a pity because I'm quite sure I'll like them.

Yeah.... I saw Flipper and Negative Trend two weeks ago in San Francisco, aren't I cool.

But Flipper is probably my favorite band of all time. They perfect there music, everything about them is spot on. The Noise, the droning Bass, the catchy drums mixed with the harsh vocals and Lyrical contact matches up 100%

even tho it doesn't seem like it would fit at all... somehow they manage to pull it together.

Flipper really is one of those bands that you just have to "get it" to understand them.

Cuz I know when I first heard them I thought they SUUUUUCKED.

It was until I read the lyrics to "Falling" completely stoned out of mind and watching the target video on you tube that it "hit" me.

Flipper STILL Rules, Okay.

I can't believe we haven't had a flipper thread before, especially since some people (*cough* blackflag) talk them up all the time.

Anyway, I loves me some flipper. That's for darn sure.

I forgot to tell u guise that when I'm feeling bad and no one is home I like to pin a towel around my neck like a cape and play bass along to Sex Bomb.

It makes me all tingly.

Try it. You'll feel like god. Throw in some sweet dance moves too.

The thing that sucks about being a Flipper fan is that it's hard to find people who know who Flipper is, let alone fellow fans. Oh yeah, and that whole Rick Rubin affair.

I'm blasting End The Game from the Live at Target stuff.

and downloading the live album Public Flipper Ltd.

can't wait to hear it.

Edit: I just read a review on Amazon.com about how to REALLY enjoy Flipper...

Grab a case of Beer, blast Flipper while killing people in Grand Theft Auto III.

Have yet to try that.

I now have a goal in my life

He is definitelynot alone

Sex Bomb may be the ****ing greatest song ever written....

I mean, i'll be playing Flipper to my friends and I can tell by the look on there faces it's like "what the fuuuuuk is THIS??!!?"

then Sex Bomb comes on and they're like "what the hell?? is this like, the same band???!?"

then it's like they are too ashamed to admit they like it.

hahahhaa suckers

they just don't know!

yeah thats right two posts in one ;)

So, the other night, I drank some beers and smoked way too much pot that I can barely stand and talk

so yeah I passed the **** out

then woke up at about 5 in the mourning, and felt like I had a ****ing hangover it sucked! and I cold not go back to sleep cuz my head hurt so much.

so what did I do???

'put on Sex Bomb :)

off of the Sex Bomb Baby! comp, which is sweet, cuz then every other song after that is ****ing pure awesomeness.

I think I fell asleep during Falling, I remember having this weird dream about driving a convertible in the mountains and noddin' my head to the bass of it.

I seriously think I am in love with this band, whenever I feel down, I go and have a case of the ol' Flipper Blues...

Well......

Just when I thought Flipper was getting back into the music scene.......

from just about every music site/E-zine I could find......

This has come up on just about everyone.....

Flipper cancels entire tour, Krist Novoselic leaves the band?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SEP. 17, 2009

It is with regret that Flipper must announce that we will be postponing our upcoming tour, scheduled to kick off on Nov. 8th. Bass player Krist Novoselic has decided that he will be unable to tour with the band.
Responsibilities at home will prevent him from being able to take the time necessary to get out on the road to promote our upcoming releases.

It is unfortunate, but Flipper will be finding a new bass player. We have enjoyed our time with Krist and have a new album of songs to show for it, and weıve done some great shows together.

We are very proud and excited to announce that Flipper will begin releasing itıs back catalog later this year, beginning with 4 classicıs. Generic Flipper, Gone Fishinı, Public Flipper Limited, and Sex Bomb Baby.
We will follow these with more back catalog releases and a new album, as yet untitled, which was recorded by Jack Endino and includes Novoselic on bass.

We are looking forward to releasing all these great albums on CD, Vinyl, and Digitally, beginning later this year in US, Canada, Japan, and Australia. We will follow with releasing in UK, Europe, and other territories in the world as soon as we secure appropriate label partners.
