Well what is the best NEW metal TUBE amp under $1000. I would like a 2x12 combo with 60+ watts. I'm looking to get a good metal crunch. like Megadeth, maybe (United Abominations, The System has Failed, Peace Sells, and Rust in Peace)? It has to have 3-band EQ and 2+ channels. I play in an lead in a band and will be playing gigs with 50+ people. And I think thats it? If I missed an important piece of information tell me, please. Well, have at it.

I'm feeling the B-52 ST-6012 60W 2x12 for you here.. Seems the best bet.

I think it's dumb to limit yourself to new equipment. Oh well, your loss.

You don't need 60+ watts.

You probably want a Bugera 6262 or the Bugera 333xl.

Limit? I don't want a half stack because its to big to fit in my car and lug it to gigs.

No, he means like refusing to buy used amps, which would open to door to very good amps for you.

I recommend you go used. There is no good-god-damn reason not to.

+1 to the B-52, though. If you like it, a Valveking, maybe. It gets a lot of recommendations around here, but it's not my thing. Possinbly a 6505 or a 5150.

I would NOT recommend getting a 6505/5150 combo. I dont think they sound anything like the head at all, and the speakers are down right awful. I would still try it extensivley if you are still considering it in the end. I liked it at first, yet returned it 5 days later.

Maybe try a B-52?

I can't go used because $500 is on a gift card :(

A local store in Baton Rouge called Zeaglers.
Good stuff

Also check out the the B-52 AT-212. I'm not sure what the differences are between the AT and the ST though.

The AT is the ALL TUBE version.

So is the ST. All tube refers to the pre and power amp, not the rectifier part.

I would go used but there really aren't any good deals in local newspapers and craigslist :(
I've been looking for the last 4 months and no good gear is ever for sale.

I called Zeaglers and the salesperson told me that they have a deal right now on the Peavey Triple XXX for $800 marked down from $1100. Is this a god amp? Of course, I'm going to try it and compare it to amps in its price range and higher price range, what are your thoughts on this amp UG?

Does the XXX come in combo form? Otherwise you would have to buy a head/cab, so thats a no if its just the head.

It's going to be tough to go high gain in that price range. I know Randall makes a few amps around that you could check out.

I'd get it if you could. Play the B-52 first though.

dude, go for an old two channel JCM800; that's basically classic Megadeth tone (granted, Dave used a JMP I think for Peace Sells...). Otherwise, i guess Peavey XXX?

You could get a head and a 2 12 cab. It should be small enough to fit in your car and be plenty loud enough.

if you had a choice between the b-52 and the xxx, get the xxx! It's an amazing all around amp, and it will do anything you want. It's new?!

Go for it!

No it's not new. It's been discontinued for some reason.
Thats why they marked it down to $800.

Anymore Peavey recommendations? Thats the only brand of amp the store sells. :(
