microphone stand. Or stickyback plastic all over your bass and cover it in picks

For subtlety i'd put it behind the headstock.

wherever you want it. it's not like it affects your tone.

Butt end of the body by the strap holder.

I've got one on my wall, and one with no sticky stuff on it that I just put on an amp or similar place when on stage.

I don't use a pick for bass, though..

Because it's a valid technique. End of.

Yet you don't see a problem with talking about your drummer's picks?

I loosen up my pickguard a tab and stuff my picks in the gap it creates. Very convinient.

lol lol lol y do u need 2 use picks if u paly bass n00b? lol lol lol

If you have a mid-70s fender, you might be able to stick your picks in the neck pocket.

Otherwise, anywhere that is convenient. The headstock is a good idea, but its a long reach.

Come to think of it, the pickup cavity is a good place to stick a few picks if you switch between fingers and pick.

the humanity

I stick it between the pickup and the body, sometimes.

edit: whoa...

The best place to stick a pick holder on your bass? I wouldn't know - I play bass with my fingers like a man.

I usually slide a couple into my wrist band. Not that conveinentt, but I don't plan on breaking picks constantly...or using them constantly, for that matter. Only when needed.

I don't use a pick as such i use one on those things you put on your finger. this makes it easy to switch between pick and fingers.

I saw some guy do a crazy Latin-sounding solo with those things. It makes me wish I didn't suck so much at using them.

I have a mic stand clippable pick holder and that's what I use. It's super convenient and I needn't go fishing for a pick if I need one.

If there's a mic stand available, Fitz's idea really works the best and is the most convenient.

IF your a female bass player a bra strap makes a convenient place to stick your picks, but I think there's only 3 other regulars on this forum that would find that a useful concept, so I am going to just say get a mic stand pick holder and be done with it.

microphone stand.
I agree, mic stand and a bit of duct tape is the way to go. You can stick your poxy pick holders up your arse.

Up your A**! Picks are for n00bZ (lol, Don't take this seriously, I use a Pick mainly)

But seriously, I hold one between my teeth, but I reckon maybe above the stings, like above the neck pickup of a Jazz, That's just my Opinion, Mic Stand sounds Good.

Edit: Dammit, Jimmy RH7 beat me to the Joke! Ah well...

Mine's on the back of my headstock. If I weren't concerned with looks, and I really actually needed it, I'd put it near the knobs, though. I rarely switch between finger-style and pick-style within a song, so convenience isn't that terribly necessary.

Side-note: what picks do you use?

silentdob
09-10-2008, 12:32 PM
Either teeth, amp, or pocket. Occasionally on the side of my watch as it has holes in it barely big enough for a pick.

I don't think you understood what I meant, which was putting it into the cavity where the pickups go, between the outside shell and the pickup itself there is sufficient space, at least on guitars, but I've never played a humbucking bass.

By shell do you mean the pickup rings?
Those generally aren't on bass.
It might work on like a beatle bass...thats all i can think of.

On my acoustic guitar I have one the back of my headstock.
But for bass I have a pick attached to a wii remote strap so I can switch up quick and not drop it.

Hmm, if it was a spare I'd put it on the back of the body, on the bridge side so it's easy to get if I dropped one on stage.
I need thicker picks for bass anyway.

I do this. I put the pick right above the jazz pickup, and then I sometimes use it as a little plat form to rest my thumb on when I'm on the E string

Stick your pick holder in the bin and get fingerpluckin' boyyyyyyyy!

No not really.

Depends whether you mind it being on show or not. If you want it hidden stick it behind the headstock, if you want easy access I'd say follow the natural path of your strumming hand down to someplace lower on the body and stick it there.

09-11-2008, 03:07 PM
When I used to pick, I slightly slivered it in between the pickguard and the body
(though I don't remember where)

that might not be a good idea if you wedge it in far with a thick pick

I use a pick wedgie and I love it. No sticky tape or glue to screw around with. Here is the site to get one. (Though you can only keep 2 picks on it at a time)

well, then don't put it there. duh.

shotbythepope

I used to stick it between the strings behind the nut. The D would be always higher than the A and G strings cuz of the wonked string tree so I could shove it between them.

It's more convenient and faster to take one from the body of the bass than to reach down to you pockets, especially when your on stage.
