Does it exist? If so...who's playing? When? And where?

I'm going to say not until nex year....

Then I'm going to say Satch, Puel Gilbert, and maybe John Perttici.

And lastly where ever the hell they feel like going...

Not till next year.

At this rate, it's looking like Satch, Vai (since he said he's not releasing an album anytime soon), and 3rd player.

It'll tour Europe/S. America/Asia, since G307 was N. America.

^That would actually be the greatest, plausible show in history of mankind.

EVER.

Guthrie, Marty, Satch please!

My face would be melted off then i would just die from the sheer awesomeness of the jam at the end..

is it possible to have that much talent in a room??

Which is why Satch, Marty and Guthrie is the best possible case.

Will not happen anytime soon but I can dream...

I think Petrucci, Gilbert, Satch is the best lineup... I like Vai and EJ. Ive nver been to b3 though.

I'd love to see a Satch/BH/Guthrie combo. Too bad Buckethead tends to overuse his shred licks sometimes (although this would probably be a great opportunity for him to pick up some new ones)

Nacho Cheese!

I love BH but I don't think is the right thing for him in a way. I just don't see him in a G3 type of environment. It could work but I think there are others that suit better.

My dream lineups in here...

Although a year on, to that list, I'd add Howe/Garsed/Helmerich. Those guys are sick when it comes to legato.

Satch is always good, I'd like to see Eric Johnson and for the third spot.. well, Vai is quality, but there are a lot of good guitarists that I still need to see, so I'll just keep it a mystery spot.

TheShred201
09-22-2008, 10:16 PM
Well, TBH, I like Vai more than satch, so-
Vai, Govan, ....
Number three is tough. Maybe Mattias Eklundh for something interesting
Vai, Govan, Eklundh. That's my 3.

Victoria-R

Eric Johnson has to be in there. Preferably!

seymour_jackson
09-23-2008, 11:43 AM
Mine would be Marty, Govan, Satch... or Gilbert, Marty, Govan.

Govan has to be in there. "Wonderfuly Slippery Thing" =O

considering satch knows about guthrie and supposedly likes erotic cakes it is a possibility! one can only hope though.

Well he's also said even though Satch loves him, the promoters won't agree to it since Guthrie isn't a big name.

Which is a shame, but one can hope.

ZylitoL delivered one of the best line-ups to me: Gilbert, Marty, Govan

Seriously, that would be amazing

DaFjory
09-23-2008, 08:52 PM
So why doesn't he just break free of his current promoters and do it himself? If he seriously wants slightly more obscure folks like Guthrie and co., then he shouldn't be doing business with people who only seek to stunt his creative vision.

(Yeah.)

Well I said Satch, Marty and Guthrie, because Satch facilitates G3, you can't have it without him.

But if given the chance, I would swap him out for someone like Paul, Vai or some other guy like Gambale.

DF: I think what you're saying is too idealistic; I'm sure Joe's trying his best to make good stuff happen. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort on his part to arrange, promote and participate in a G3.

Yeah, I know you can't have it without Satch but just the idea of Marty, Guthrie, and Gilbert being on one stage for a show similar to G3 would be amazing.

Satch, Gilbert, Wim Roelants

I find it kinda curious that so many people have Guthrie Govan but when I was pulling tabs off two years ago nobody talked about him.... Im assuming hes the fad right now? He's good but it just seems suspicious.

Youtube + Erotic Cakes. When I got into Shawn Lane, there was only one tiny site on the net you could get vids of him from. And you needed a password from the admin.

Freely available media = gooder guitarists commonly known. :)

I actually found out about Govan through this forum. I'm thinking word of mouth(and typing on the internet) has helped his popularity. I wont be shocked if his popularity goes up even more considering he just did an article for Guitar World on tapping.

It is the one with Metallica on the cover(the newest one, since Metallica is on the cover of about 100 GW mags). It is right near the columns...where you can find Paul Gilbert talking about string skipping arps...

kinda sad that I have read that entire magazine about 5 times...still yet to actually do all of the columns and understand them 100%.

he was writing for guitar world or w/e years ago, one of the teachers at my college even offered to have him come in and give us a lecture. he never did but only later did we think 'holy Sh*t thats guthrie!'

TheShred201

^He's worked for guitar techniques magazine for a long time I believe, and the tapping lesson was originally from it (only the first half is in the metallica covered GW).

It would be interesting to see Michael Romeo on the G3 tour

ZylitoL
10-14-2008, 09:36 PM
^I would love for Mike to be there, if he can get more material. Yeah, he's got The Dark Chapter, but I want something even more.

He would destroy with his insane tapping.

DaFjory

They should do G3 with a twist...

Michael Romeo
Michael Angelo Batio
Michael Lee Firkins

(Steve Vai)
Steve Morse
Steve Stevens
Steve Lukather

See? ;)

I don't see Guthrie on there. They want revolutionary guitarplayers. Guthrie is amazing player don't get me wrong; But they want someone with the full deal. A disctintive sound/popular/good/original.

The Reason why these players have been on G3

Satriani = he was basically the first 1 who made the way for rock instrumental's on a virtuoso level.

Vai = He came up with crazy tapping shit and sound and compositions and whammy bar st00f. Which serious guitar player hasn't grabbed at least 1 slide lick or lydian tapping lick or whammy trick from him?

Eric Johnson = Super virtuoso wrote many good songs, can sing, came up with beautifll chordal harmonies, has established 1 of the most beautifull guitar sound.

Yngwie Malmsteen: Made neoclassical popular.

John Petrucci: Dream Theater made him popular. IS so an asshole (in a good way haha) about being clean that people wanna see him for this.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd actually would like too see Buckethead; but i think he's too much of a gimmick for promoters to put him there, although he would be perfect as a guest in the final jam.

Paul Gilbert: If he never left the states he might already been a G3 regular.

Didn't you know Vai has a twin! He's a gemini duh! He will join Steve and Joe this time.
