Hi guys. I was wondering if there were more, good bands that combine good guitarwork with a more classical approach (think Symphony X, for example). I want something that leans mostly to the classical side.

Well, let me hear your suggestions!

Necrophagist uses alot of neo classical influences, but it's pretty heavy :P

Here are two links for ye:

Edit: at the end of the first link, there's even a small take on Prokofiev's 'The Knight's Dance', which is from the ballet version of Romeo & Juliet :p:

Racer X has some neo-classical stuff in their songs, do they?

Thanks for the replies so far. I've heard the bands mentioned, but what I'm looking for utilizes the classical instruments more. Something orchestra like, with electric guitar.

(think Symphony X! :p)

Erm, I'm not sure about this, but Mors Principium Est (spelling?) uses choir vocals and violins, but don't flame me about it :P

He may tend to be a pompous ass on occasion, but Yngwie Malmsteen is virtually exactly what you are describing.

Check out these songs:

Rob Marcello, I don't know if you can find him solo though, he used to be in the band "Danger Danger" back in the 80s, hes pretty good.
