always found this band to be decent.

edit: for post-rock screamo, i prefer Men as Trees, Et Tu Brute, Dawn Treader, Gantz, Funeral Diner, etc.

I want this band to come to Edmonton, but apparently they have a booking agent which put off my friends who were going to try and do the show. Lame. That said, Old Pride has some of the best riffs around right now.

Defeater, Touche Amore and La Dispute all really like playing England but not Scotland, and I'm not going to go to Leeds or whatever just to see them... Make Do and Mend came to Scotland a while back with Fireworks, but I didn't like any of the bands enough to travel 3 hours each way to go see them.

Pianos ruled live, but they were blown away by Suis La Lune (obviously).

The shitty thing about the whole "Wave" thing (besides people taking it as more than an inside joke between friends) is that people compare all the bands.

I realized I was comparing TA and LD's lyrics a few days ago.

I just see it as a rehashing of old ideas, by many different bands. That's the only reason why I compare them (which I do, all the time).

The Touche A-morray pronunciation sounds way better IMO, it has a nice flow and it somewhat rhymes. Blake probably likes the sound of Touche A-moor because that's the way he's been reading it presumably since he got into them.

I do think they are the "best" wave band, as weird as that is to say. Like I've always loved La Dispute and think they're great, same with TTA and Defeater, but these guys are just visceral. It's awesome.

*I am aware I didn't even mention Make Do and Mend, I like them, but still haven't clicked.

Amuro Jay

The general consensus of the Wave is as the big four: Defeater, LD, TTA, and MDAM, but MDAM has always struck me as the odd one out. Then there's PBTT, who are totally wave material, but not as often grouped together with the big four. IMO, PBTT fits better than MDAM.

Kinda like how everyone says Testament should be the fourth band of the Big Four of thrash rather than Anthrax.

Ahhh. I didn't know that Peanut Butter Tool Time was left out, but I can kinda see it.They were never grouped in when I first started reading about the wave, but now they are.

Some people have even started calling TSL part of the wave because of how often they play alongside wave bands. House shows with TTA and all that.

Also, Peanut Butter Tool Time :haha:

That is their new name.

On their myspace, they had a little band bro whoring called Wave Wednesday. I saw The Saddest Landscape coming in, and maybe even Balance and Composure. I don't know if they'll "join" or not (God, that sounds retarded) but I wouldn't be surprised.

Spine:

"On tuesday I got the call, that damn phone call I’d been bracing for all week. No, don’t say it. I watched her crawl in bed with you, I watched her wet your lips and couldn’t do a God damned thing, I watched you shake, I watched our hearts break, I couldn’t wrap my fingers around your spine and shake it loose from the bone, I couldn’t fight against the loss, I never set fire to your bed, I never burnt the bed sores, I never ate the flame, or drank the sweat, but if it burns me up I won’t char half as much as I’ll keep warm. Life goes on because it has to, these things, they never leave, they stay with you, the smell of the viewing, your friends singing your praises, the flower boot that never bloomed until we lost you, the first Christmas we suffered through, room 211, kissing your head, the last look into your eyes, not having the words to say thank you, say good bye."

I just got back from extensive night driving listening to it, and I honestly love it. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and I enjoyed the new vocal approaches he implemented. They gave it a little character and variety.

My only qualm would be that it never seemed to get as intense as some of the highlights from Old Pride, but it didn't really need it.

And I can always just listen to Old Pride, anyways.

I'm so excited to see them on the 7th.

DimebagLivesOn
