How do you consider him as a guitarist?

He is personally in my top 10.

He's a great guitarist, one of the better i've heard.

I agree, his solo in Get the funk out is one of my all time faves. Not so sure about the black nailpolish though!

I actually like him for his vocals more than his guitar work.

Pursuit Of Happiness is a good song.

I really like his guitar work...at least the work he did with Extreme. I haven't heard any of his other stuff though.

I got one of his albums the other day expecting something good. I thought it sucked. Seemed remedial. Hows about you guys post some clips of his good stuff and get this taste out of my mouth.

Incredible Guitarist, and incredibly underrated.

I personally don't like his sound and style, but he's pretty good.

He is the most versitile guitarist ever. Drama gods is completely different from what he did with Extreme. Even when he played with Jane's addiction singer on his solo thing it was completely different then anything I've ever heard.

One of the most original guitar players... And a damn good singer

His style on the first extreme album he had a very EVH style, but by Pornogrphity he had his own style

I would describe his style (at least on the first Extreme album) as EVH on steroids. I dunno what his solo stuff is like, but with Extreme he was a real monster player.

Still as abstract as he was in extreme, but you wouldn't recongize him if you heared Drama gods because it's more classic rockish/alterative? I have no clue how to describ them to you other than saying go check them out.

Well if he blows EVH away, then everyone who plays fast does as well.

EVH, to me, is not about his shred (even though he used to be able to, to a point) but about the phrasing and tone. Bettencourt is just a great homage to that style, but in a funky metal kinda way. Totally his own thing - I've yet to hear anyone else do it so well.

See it's situations like this where I really hate comparisons between guitarists, or pointless discussion about who could blow whom away. If they're good enough to make music that gets people to listen, then they've done a good job.

i agreed with you that he reminds you of EVh i just said he blows him away. EVH was a great lead player and had some awesome techniques. I think Nuno took the lead playing of EVH and added his great chops and just made it awesome. When i listen to Nuno i hear a lot of EVH thats why the comparison came up. Both superb imo..

Strongly disagree with that statement. Listen to a guy like Richie Kotzen or Greg Howe before making a blanket statement like that. I'm not saying Greg or Kotzen are the most versitile. They are however more versitile on what they write.

I just got back from seein extreme in Birmingham and gotta say they were friggin excellent. Nuno took it to a whole new level, both with his lead and his mighty impressive rythym playing. In fact the whole band were superb, good gig all round.

How bout you go listen to Extreme all five albums, then go listen to drama gods, then population 1, then listen to Satellite Party. Then you can tell me they all sound the same because they all are extremely different from each other. He has a broader range of genre's he plays. I really don't think they guys you mention have such broad range as he does, but I will research that.

You have to stop failing dude. Being the same doesn't mean the literal sound.

I started off with Schizophonic, and then moved onto Population 1.

You might want to try that, or you might want to try waiting till people who know more about him than me come along :haha

I kinda like his work with Extreme more then his solo. It is pretty equal though so I'm not sure what to rec.
