Guitar and Harp Tapping from the U.K.
I'm new here and looking for feedback on my music :)
I'm Mike Dawes. One half of guitar/concert harp duo 'Mike Dawes & Amy Turk'
We perform a variety of styles using unorthodox techniques on both instruments.
Please take the time to view some of these videos and let me know what you think.
You can find more information on our music and gig list at the links in my signature.
Thanks, i look forward to hearing from you:)
All the best,
I really like the first song. It sounds really really cool.
Could you check out my guitar playing and tell me what u think?
Thanks. Subscribe if u like it. :)
good stuff. That first one is cool, very Thomas Leeby. Celine dion sounded nice also. Thanks for posting on here glad I had a look. Inspires me a bit and to get some original stuff up. you are probably beyond me, but how/where did you start out gigging? I'm interested in having a crack at finding an audience around here for a similar sort of thing... instrumental guitar. done a few open mics with decent feedback, but its hard to tell if after the novelty factor wears off, they would be willing to listen to more than a few instrumentals in a row. If you have any tips on how to get started or how you got started love to hear?
check me out on www.myspace.com/mattarnott if you're interested, otherwise all the best keep going.
Hi Matt, nice to meet you on here.
Thanks for the comment, your feedback is much appreciated.
With regards to getting started with 'that kind of guitar playing' it's tricky as sooooo many people are doing it now (since the youtube explosion)
If it's just instrumental music you're doing (as are we) you just need to keep it original.
Try to learn and play loads of different styles of solo guitar (Celtic, Travis Picking etc) and most importantly KEEP IT TASTEFUL ha.
The thing is, a lot of people (myself in the past) just go straight into all the 'flash' without the listenable aspect. Imagine if you play a set of just slappytappy stuff, sure people will think it's interesting, but they'll lose interest after a point. Besides, so many people are doing it.
Sorry if i ramble, hope this helps. Basically keep your set fresh, a healthy blend of styles and arrangements etc.
Thanks for checking us out, all the best
I saw your video performance on WIMP as 'sologuitar'
I am just a casual player, mostly to accompany children while they sing. But I enjoy many styles of guitar.
You are really a creative artist. Many times I do see somebody and say to myself, wow, I want to learn that. But you are way out there, and I appreciate your creativity.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck in what ever you are trying to do.
