NGD- After 6 long years

Today turned out to be unexpected, but pretty good. It started off with me just wanting to get my amp repaired. I traded in my Trace Elliot RAH350SMX at GC for some store credit, but they don't repair amps... So I decided to just pick up a new guitar, cause I'm tired of that giant amp in my room just sitting there. So I picked this up.

So after 6 years with my Squier Affinity Strat, I finally have a new guitar. :haha:

I also got my new bumper in for my truck, put that on today too...but that's another thread.

Anyways, pics away.

My review of this guitar, is that it's a great guitar for $400. I've played several of these at various shops, and every single one has been consistent with the other. Honestly, the pickups aren't that bad, a bit muddy, but pretty responsive, but I've only played it though my amp sims. I tested it on a Mesa 5:50, and liked it enough. I love the neck, it's extremely thin, but I'm not used to the wideness of it, gonna take some getting used to.

I'll have some clips up tomorrow, it's too late to record anything tonight.

Here's some quick clippies. I'll make a real track soon enough.

Bridge pickup, lots o gain: http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/...all/play1075457

Bridge pickup split(via 5 way switch) crunch: http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/...all/play1075460

Neck pickup clean(lots o low end): http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/...all/play1075461

Sweet! Let me know how it is later. Thinking of springing for the RG7321FM.

What you really needed was a new amp

I've got wood because your wood looks insane.

Hell yeah! Another 7 string warrior to join the bunch! Nice choice getting an Ibanez because you can never go wrong with them.

Thanks, I'm still trying to get used to the neck, it's just so much bigger compared to my Squiers neck, but it's also thinner, which is kinda weird too, but I'm liken it.

I edited my main post with some clippies so you guys can hear this thing. The stock pickups are actually pretty decent, which is surprising. Sorry for the rough playing, still getting used to the guitar.

Yeah, my Squier has a BKP Painkiller in the bridge, and Trilogy Suites in the middle and neck.

For this 7 string, I'm actually thinking of putting DiMarzio's Liquifire and Crunchlab set in it...mainly cause I can't afford BKPs right now. :haha: But I'll prolly deal with the stock pickups for now since they really aren't all that bad, just the cleans are a bit meh. Maybe it's just me pushing on the strings too hard, idk.

I just got my first 7 string a couple of months ago and the transition was a little weird. But there's a lot more you can play on a seven string. Explore it and make it your own :) after a little wile the extra b will be really important.

crunchlab/liquifire combo is really great. I just put that combo in my RG7321 and it makes it a lovely workhorse guitar.

Oh really? Did you change any of the pot values or the tone cap? Or leave it all pretty much stock except for the pickups?
