Augusta, Georgia
I've never been there, going in a few weeks to visit some family. Anybody know anything interesting about it, or anything cool to do?

it's 3 hours away but if you can, go check out Helen Georgia. it's an old German settlement right in the mountains with a few waterfalls nearby, tubing, and a whole bunch of touristy things.

son_of_bodom 03-25-2012 12:35 AM

come visit me.

Isn't that the town in Georgia where REM is from? No, no it's not.

My grandpa had an Augusta, Georgia sweater. That is the extent of my knowledge of it.

That'd be Athens, the hippy-haven of Georgia.

Augusta is alright, but if you're after entertainment either keep going east to the Carolina coast or get on I20 and go west into Atlanta.

I hear Augusta has a pretty sweet bar scene worth checking out if you're old enough.

Jearl 03-25-2012 02:08 AM

isn't there a cool theme park there or something?

jugglingfreak 03-25-2012 10:47 AM

The only thing that Augusta is famous for is the Masters golf tournament.

So, unless you just love golf, it's a boring small town.

oh Laurence Fishburne was born there..

WaterGod 03-25-2012 10:54 AM

I've never even heard of it.

Hulk Hogan was born there.

It explains why his new wife looks like his daughter.

theogonia777 03-25-2012 11:29 AM

You should go to Tbilisi instead.

mrfinkle213 03-25-2012 11:37 AM

First three replies pretty much summed up your trip agenda.

Ganoosh 03-25-2012 11:55 AM

There isn't shit to do in Augusta. Make a day trip to Atlanta or Savannah, they're both like a 3 hour drive from there.

Kensai 03-25-2012 02:06 PM

I haven't been, but Georgia is always on my mind.

Really though I don't know... explore the landscape.

Random88 03-25-2012 02:21 PM

When are you going?

If it's the weekend after next, it's gonna be really, really busy
