Your choice: The unofficial 'Your Move' discussion thread.
I've taken the liberty of making this thread as I feel the original thread should be used just for reviews, announcements, and of course the themes and contenders. It's getting pretty cluttered with all of our other discussion.
What would you have picked for the two themes so far, had it been your turn? I would have gone for this for the futuristic warfare theme: ![]() Or one of these, if I had made a hasty decision: ![]() ![]() For the Swords and Sorcery one, it would have to be more Tolkein: ![]() |
I had thought of a discussion thread myself. Good idea.
As mentioned this would be my call. ![]() |
I'd have gone with this:
![]() I just realized I'm unable to provide reviews for many of the battles to come, due to being incapable of listening to albums at will for 5 days a week. There may be even times when I'm at field training and thus completely disconnected from the Internet. I hope none of my battles come up at such a time. |
Post-apocalyptic savages in the new age of desolation

![]() or even ![]() could have done well. As much as I love Ziltoid, it definately wouldn't hold up as well against some of these albums |
I would've been all over this theme. So many beloved albums to choose from. When I heard demos are allowed, a certain gem jumped in my mind for this latest theme.
![]() Occurence on Mimas is the most epic tune for futuristic warfare there is. A story unraveled from the analyzed data retrieved from a human being's fossilized brain after the extinction of the human race. And then there's Boiling In The Hourglass, the ghoul erasing people from existence through his ability to move through time. |
So how do I actually get in on this game?
The introduction explains the game but doesn't actually explain how to take part. |
Good suggestions so far. This sprung to mind, too.

The spots are all taken, but PM Vampire Goldfish and he'll probably tell you you'll get a chance if somebody pulls out.

If post-apocalyptic wasteland was the theme I was going to go with The Magus actually. |
come on man If Road Warrior had an electrocution scene this would totally make it |

I can't wait to get you in on the next one MH. The Key was pretty much my choice. |
To be honest, 'Killing Technology' was probably my first thought on seeing the new theme, which conveniently enough gave me a sudden urge to listen to the album as soon as I noticed it. We... are... connected.
Other than that, though, the Lord Weird Slough Feg album also came to mind, given that futuristic warfare is kind of its primary subject-matter, although I don't really listen to it that often, and I'm not sure that it necessarily conveys the matter better than the Voivod album. Their album didn't come to mind that readily, I think that I had only thought of them when giving the Gamma Ray album a listen, but they do seem like they would be a reasonable fit. I suppose that an album in a somewhat similar vein could be Cloven Hoof's 'Dominator,' although I'm not mostly a fan. Those aside, I suppose that a few Cold War techno-thrash bands would probably work here, as well as maybe Voivod-influenced bands like Vektor, etc. Hypothetical non-metal pick would probably be Xenakis' Eonta pieces, just to try something a bit different. |
