UG Community @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com - Gig Swap/Hook-up Thread

Hey guys,

This is an idea I had some time back but never took the time to get it started. I figure this is the best sub-forum to put this in.

The point of this thread is to find bands to trade shows with, find bands to help fill out a bill, or find a show to jump on.

To do this, you'll need to post some information about your band (ie. LINKS, genre(s), location, how far you're willing to travel, price, set length(s), etc.) and obviously dates you're looking for gigs or openings on gigs you have booked (or are trying to book). I'll use my band for example:

Genres: Rock, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Punk, with some southern-y hints

Location: Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg, West Virginia

Set Length: 45-90ish minutes (Mainly originals w/maybe a handful of covers)

Willing to Travel to: Basically all of Ohio, most of West Virginia, and bordering states such as Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, etc.

Price: Negotiable. Generally at least $100, possibly more depending on travel distance/venue/set length/etc.

Looking for Shows on: [insert dates here] - Mainly weekends please.

Openings on Shows : [insert dates here]

Additional Info: Will not travel with P.A., P.A. will be provided for gigs we've booked.

And, of course, feel free to add any info you feel is necessary. The example above is just a guideline.

Hopefully this thread can help the users of UG hook up their bands for gigs. A few things I recommend:

- Use this thread for the "basics" of getting a swap/hook up moving. To avoid clutter, use PM's for more in depth negotiations.

- BE HONEST. Do not screw a band over, fail to pay them the agreed upon price, or in general lie about a show or it's details. I'll do my best to keep a list of good and bad folks to work with on shows.

- Do NOT spam your band's info. It's one thing to repost your band if 10 pages go by and you're still looking for shows. However, refrain from posting your band on every other page.

If the need arises, I'll make a more set-in-stone set of rules, but for now let's just see how this goes. I think this could really be beneficial for a number of bands who are looking to expand their fanbases and find new venues and bands to do shows with.

I'm going to reserve the next couple of posts for any additional information I might choose to add. If enough bands start using this thread, I'll try to keep an updated list of bands looking for shows with links to their posts.
