MIM fender strat body vs MIA strat body?

is there a big difference between the bodies of the MIM and the MIA strats? i have an old 2007 MIM strat which i was thinking of totally rooting out everything put all new hardware and electronics in it and a custom fender neck, but then thought if the MIM bodies were any good compared to their american counterpart.

There isn't much of a difference in the two bodies. electronics and parts, yes, but not the bodies or necks. They're both alder or ash (depending on the model) One is made in mexico, the other in california. MIA tremolos wont fit on MIM strats though. but everything else should.

what about a wilkinson bridge? will that fit on the mexican body?

what kind of wilkinson is it?
can you post a link to the exact bridge?
A MIM body has a 2 1/16" string spacing. That means, if you measure the holes in the trem, it should be 52.5mm. If the wilkinson is 52.5mm, then it'll drop right in. if you're looking at one of these: http://www.guitarfetish.com/Wilkins...lock_p_897.html
Then no. That's a USA spec trem.

that is the bridge

it should. I also read some reviews saying that people have dropped them right into their MIM strats, so it should work fine for you.

thanks for that guys. do you know whats involved in putting a 2 point bridge in a MIM body? is it just a simple drill bigger holes for the post's?

I think it might have to be recessed, but that probably depends on which particular bridge you get.

if i go for the 2 point bridge it will be the wilkinson vs100 http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges...0N_Tremolo.html

it could be done. I'd take it to a tech and have them do it.
