Should I sand off my paint?
I have an Ibanez GRG270B, the purple one, would it look any good if i rub the paint and varnish off, or is it some really crappy wood under there? And if you guys persuade me to naked-ify it, what would be the best way? Just scrub with sandpaper for hours? Thanks people if you help me :)

Sanding through poly is a pain in the ass, even with an orbital sander. I've never used a paint stripper on a guitar, but I've heard it works well. You ought to google that method.
And you'd also better be prepared to paint it again if the wood looks terrible(or I guess leave it). If it's basswood, it will be a very plain yellow to begin with, and it may also have green streaks, and probably be 3 pieces. |
I took off the paint off the front only from a DK2, it looked too pink even though it was red. It had a flame maple veneer that was super thin, but it looked way better with just the wood (veneer) after I refinished it clear. lots of work though, I probably wouldn't do it again.

No. Youd need to be much more motivated to pull it off.

Buy a can of Citristrip if you want to get through that poly finish.
