How do I art?
 

Because of my wanking injury, I won't be able to play guitar/bass for a while. It sucks, I'm trying not to think about. I also really shouldn't be using a computer much.

So anyway, the only thing I'm kind of interested in apart from music and internet is art. I don't know anything about art, I can't do it, I don't really look at it much. But sometimes I see really cool pictures and wish I could do that, because sometimes I picture stuff in my head and I'd like to see it in real life. Like hearing music in your head.

I saw this the other day and just thought 'woah.' I think the guy who did it draws for Magic the Gathering or something. I love epic fantasy art and stuff, and futuristic landscapes like this.

I have no idea if they were done with software or whatever. I suck and have no natural talent, how do I get on the path to being amazing and having a creative outlet? Any other arters started from scratch and gotten really good?

You know you probably could have gotten away with saying you injured your hand by playing guitar too hard. I would have (skeptically) believed it.

And unless it comes naturally, I don't think its easy for anyone to make art like that right off the bat. It probably involves some dedicated art classes.

Well the landscaping thing, is a matte painting. (just type it in on google pics and be amazed)

It's something a friend of mine does professionally in hollywood for major films (green lantern, avengers etc.)

It's done by taking a (high res) picture of a real place in the world, (or just grabbing one from the webz), and layer over it with colour masks and added details.

I personally find those very cool as well.

Photoshop is pretty much all you need.

With a stick.

Hours upon hours of drawing/studying....
