Businesses really do look at social websites
So here I am reading all this "Hey businesses check your Twitter and Facebook so watch what you say." And I'm thinking "I bus at a pizza buffet, who gives a shit? :haha:" Well apparently even barely above minimum wage jobs look at your tweets/statuses. I had 3 tweets that were negative towards the business I worked at, and I got fired today for negative publicity. After working there for 2 years.
TL;DR be careful what you put on teh interwebz EDIT: I am not saying what they did was wrong, just unexpected with no prior warning or write-ups EDIT2: I also didn't know I got fired. I heard it through the grapevine through other employees, confronted my manager about it and was then told. |
Your own fault, broski.
But it is a bit harsh. |
don't bite the hand that feeds you, Only thing that comes to mind...
sorry dude. |
When the system goes full-on ******, you're not heralded for being the sensible one.
|
Sue them.
Seriously. That's your private life. |
But do they look at UG is the real question we should be asking
|
i don giv w **** yolo
|
It's not a big deal, I mean I am still in high school so it's not like I am going to live off ramen noodles and warm tap water for months. It is just kind of a lesson learned kind of deal.

he made it public, unfortunately |

Yes. TS I am sorry for your loss of job. Did you tweet with your real name or did your employee demand to know your Twitter account? |

Real name. I take full responsibility, I mean it IS my fault. Just unexpected you know? |
I think they were justified in taking action, although outright firing you does seem a bit harsh. I hope something new comes along soon, man.
|
And that's why I'm not an immature little bitch about my job.
You had to have posted some nasty ass shit, man. |
You should change your privacy settings. You can make it so they can't see what you say pretty easily.

"Hope it isn't busy tonight." "Screw work." "Yeah no managers up front tonight!" Does that fall under the definition of "nasty ass shit, man." |

ummm.... sue the f*ckers. |

Yes, but surely they can't simply fire him without a written warning about conduct(unless it's something actually serious, and not just a manager's power trip)? |
Quote:
Yea I definitely get where you're coming from; would probably feel the same in your situation. |

They aren't 'nasty ass shit' but they are bad publicity/advertising, which is what they fired you for. From the way you talk about them, I get the feeling that this is some large, corporate company where they see employees more as a numbers than people, ya? |
