The Quitting Smoking Thread
Pit, I need support. I've ran out of money and can't afford to smoke any
more. This is the thread for those trying to quit smoking to help one another, and those non-smokers to tell us how great their lives are! I'm going a bit mad right now. All I can think about is smoking!!! |
Good luck man. I've been trying to quit for months now. Too weak.
|
I decided to stop a few months ago. I could feel my lungs degrading and I just thought **** this shit. Just distract yourself with other things.
|
Instead of quitting smoking, quit lifting one up to your mouth or quit buying them. That way no matter what your mind keeps telling you about not smoking, it doesn't matter. Because you can't lift one up to your mouth.
That's how I quit and it was much easier. You can want one as bad as you want to, but because you can't take a drag, it doesn't matter. Secondly, occupy your time with other things rather than thinking about it. The key to not smoking is that the intervals between wanting one get longer and longer. Starting a no smoking thread is the worse thing you can do because you are constantly thinking about one. Lastly, nicorette lozenges if all else fails. The 4mg ones are twice as strong as a cigarette. Eventually you no longer feel the need to lift one up to your mouth or take a drag. Then, after a month, go to 2mg. Then, start breaking them up into halfs, then quarters. I buy a thing of lozenges and for 8 bucks, it lasts me two or three months now. Haven't smoked in two years. Good luck. Stop reading the no smoking thread now or your not going to do it. |
every time you want to smoke, masturbate instead.
|
I chew Nicorette.. can be almost as expensive as cigarettes, but it seems to work and I'm weening off of it. Just don't chew too much of it or drink while chewing it.
|
It's only a matter of time before you start digging through ashtrays and picking butts up off the street.
|
Good luck man! It'll be worth it!
|
I have a pack of e-cigs. They taste foul but they're awesome when I can't afford to buy tobacco.

Feels good being a more superior being than smokers.

Quit smokin pot recently after about 7 years. Started as a weekend thing, then a couple times during the week, then I took a few long breaks, and ended up smoking every day. Its not like tobacco in that it does mess with your mind a little more, I think.
I'd told the DT I'd quit about 50 times, but this time its lasting. I have been drinking a lot more, though. If pot were legal I'd probably just eat an edibles and stay functional. Quote:

Ya, my cat died two days ago, serious. Still sad. |
I tried out stoptober....
Failed by the 6th day as it was one of my best mates birthdays....so I had a couple of cigars... However I then re-started, and lasted until Halloween, where I started smoking cigarettes again After that night I haven't had one since I generally got through about 5 a day at that time Trying to quit altogether Go NHS stop smoking free app But in all seriousness...gonna be tricky as I can't drink til february... :( |
2nd time attempting to quit smoking, went 3 weeks cold turkey then finally gave in. I was smoking around 15 a day, now i'm down to about 3. Even if you give in, treat every day like a small victory. E.g. "That's another 50 cigarettes I didn't smoke this week". Good luck dude, you'll get there.
