Lost Rubber Ring on the Tuning Peg

Hi, I know nothing about the hardware side of guitars. The small 'rubber ring' (I'm just guessing they're rubber) that was on one of the tuning pegs has come off and gone missing. The tuning peg is now much harder to turn in either direction. The guitar needs new strings but I don't know if I'm going to be able to put a string on and tune with that peg. Is it urgent to replace that 'rubber ring' or will I be able to just twist really hard until it's in tune?

Are you referring to that white plastic bushing?

If it was able to come off like that, they were probably crap tuners. You should get a new set. :)

That's a nylon bushing, isn't it? shouldn't be too hard to find

EDIT: by this I mean from mfg. call grover and ask them, they're typically pretty good with shit like this.

Yes, that's what I mean. Is that crucial to tuning/re-stringing?

I can't see it being too important other than it helps to keep dust out.
