Question about Piano Sheet Music (Simple)

How do you know which key on the piano do you use to begin? I know how to progress (If a note lies on a line, I know the space between that line and the next line above would be the next key on the piano, then the next line is the next key and so on) and I know piano notes go from A to G then starts at A again, but how do you know which key is the bottom line of each cleff? Is it always the same?

I'm sirry if my question makes no sense/hard to follow.

Thank you so much for your help!

There you go buddy. So in a nutshell, yes, the notes are always the same.

The only reason they would change is when the 'clef' changes. In the image I gave you, the top one one is the 'treble' clef and the bottom is the 'bass' clef.

So, if you see the treble clef symbol, you will know that the bottom line is E and the top line is F. There are 5 lines which go E-G-B-D-F. You should memorise this.

If you see the bass clef symbol, you will know that the bottom line is G and the top line is F. There are 5 lines which go G-B-D-F-A. You should also memorise this!!

I hope that answered your question mate.

Thank you for your help ^^ I shall look at your link now,

Just one last question:

i noticed in the song I'm trying to learn that some notes will be upside down, does that mean anything?

I assume you are talking about how some stems are pointed down instead of up? Primarily this is to keep the voices separate from one another, but sometimes in simpler songs it's just to save space. There's no difference whether the stem goes up or down.
